Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

I have used cheap and expensive and all that pet smart had to offer. I have lost a lot of hatches in the process.... I only use the gqf thermometers that stick into the cabinets for the thermometers and use another one with a wick on the end for the hygrometer. It has perfect readings everytime. All the others you have to re-calibrate constantly and I don't have patience or time to do that. Old fashioned in this case works much better than anything else you can buy.
The incubator I just picked up this morning has a hole drilled in the side and was supposed to have a set mounted on a bracket that attaches through the hole. Needless to say, it wasn't there. Eventually I'll get a replacement I think.

And here I was thinking of offering some midgets this week.

Well maybe. It will depend on the next two shipments. The girls are laying bigger eggs and I can't fit as many extras in right now. New used bator won't be here til next week and my other three are packed. I have just enough room to slip in some goose eggs for the twerp and then we are stuffed to the rafters.

But come next week after that bator gets here...........mine mine mine.

Oh no! I think I really want some of your midgets. I don't suppose you're interested in Basque? ;)

I found a pullet egg from my just barely 5 months old (sept hatch) black copper maran :D this means I have 5 layers
:weee

Woot!

Usually that is what the holes are for. My sportsman has two holes (sometimes you have to drill a hole for the hygrometer). The wick for the hygrometer falls perfectly into the water dish so I dont have to worry about it until its time to change the wick (I usually just clean mine up and reuse it)
you can try gqfmfg, cutler supply, and oddly enough---- Meyer hatchery for the gqf thermometers. They are the best ones out there in my opinion.

I've had a downright crapppy day.
first thing this morning the boss calls us all into a meeting to tell us that they are planning on cutting several people and we better show why we are all valuable. I love my job, but business HAS been pretty slow.

stoopid economy.

So then I miss the post office by 5 minutes because I couldn,t leave when I was suuposed to, and I dang well wasn,t going to complain after that news. But I,d pre-printed and paid for the postage for two packages that I didn,t get in on time. Will they take them tomorrow, anyone know?

and it is raining like nobodies business out there...I got soaked and chilled on the way to my car.

I wonder if I have any Kahlua.

I'm sorry!

Yes, the PO will take them tomorrow. I've printed postage and mailed the package days later.

Hope your evening goes better.

Make yourself a drink girl!

They will totally accept a preprinted package with a date already printed. At least, they have with me. I print my postage from eBay right away so I don't forget, and have shipped them late before. I had one customer who had me ship a week after I printed it and they didn't even look at the date on it.

I have had no problems getting packages accepted next day when postage was already prepaid- the only thing they are grouchy about is when it is not printed within so many hours. Sorry to hear about the job situation- hope you get to stay around. If you were around here I would make you my special pick-me-up brownie with Kahlua soaked into it..... mmmm....and chocolate mousse and whipped cream on top drizzled in chocolate syrup. It always makes me feel better- and a bit warm inside.

oh my...that DOES sound good!!!!

thanks for reassuring me on the package thing. I know it' not that big of a deal in the whole scheme of things...but on top of everything else,it was like the last straw, you know? now if I can just find that kahlua...

Hmmm. the school bus is now 20 minutes late....when should I start to worry?

ETA: called. They broke down on the hill, so they're sending another bus. I get slightly paranoid when they're not home when the should be.
