I like the doghouse idea, but since we have a lot of wood pieces around from other projects, I'll probably try to build something.
Turkey nest boxes should be big enough that the turkeys are able to turn around without damaging their tails. I would think for RPs that a 16 x 16 would work just fine, but bigger is usually better in my opinion. I've used old barrels turned on their sides. The only ones that have ever had a problem were the BBW when the flipped over and couldn't get back up.those were right on the ground, but blocked so the didn't roll.

My midgets coop is an old camper and they use the upper cabinets with the curtains hung over them. Dark is always best.

Hope that helps

My neighbor had given me an old, large doghouse sometime back, and that ends up with a turkey hen taking it over every summer. It's the first site to get claimed.

dh built me boxes that are roughly 18" x 24"x 8" high with a bottom...they sit right on the ground. When I first put them in, they still laid on the ground, so I threw a couple chicken eggs in there so they would get the hint, it worked! so if you don't want to build boxes you could just take some 2x8's and kind of frame in the nest area, so they dont scatter the hay or whatever you use for material and put a couple eggs in there, that should help them.
In one pen I also took a plastic barrel and cut it in half lengthwise and nailed them to the wall of the pen, so they wouldnt tilt when they got in them....

I miss my goats. I loved my toggenburg and alpine sweeties. Now I have horses. Goats were much cheaper, easier and safer. The only upside to the horses is they don't escape and eat all my landscaping. I love that little one with the white on it (the first pic).
