Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

After considerable thinking on the subject, after I receive m Partridge Barthuhner pair from GFF I am done with them. Over these last few months I've had nothing but issues with their birds. Of the trio of new line Cream Legbars I got from them, I will be down to a hen after today. I have yet another partridge barthuhner chick to put down due to beak issues and another one I'm watching because it could have beak issues. I have at least 2 partridge barthuhners I probably won't be able to breed since they are feathering in close to being black instead of partridge like the others. I've hatched 4 rhodebars with leg issues from GFF eggs. Over the last 2 months I have put down more chicks then I have in the last 2.5 years. All GFF chicks. I'm done with them. Apparently they don't care enough to make sure their birds are genetically sound.

I think the decision you have made is the right one. which is unfortunate as they are the only ones that I know of importing birds...but it is obvious that they don't care.

On a much happier note, my White Bresse rooster is crowing!!!! Wow, does he sound rough too!

Also, I want to start canning this year. So, can someone tell me exactly what I need to acquire as for as equipment to do this? I've not started reading up on it yet but I'm already making a list of what I want to can.

Large Canner
Tongs
Jars
Lids
Rings
The little thing to take the jars out of the water
Lots of flour sack towels
Pectin for Jam or Jelly
Stick with the Magnet on the end (best thing ever)
Lots of friends to help

Just an announcement!!!!

There will be a few rule changes. Nothing drastic. Just trying to fine tune the swap!
ACK rule changes to learn lol

A pair of cuticle scissors or a very tiny drill bit to make a small hole in the shell just big enough to actually see inside

then place the flaslight against the shell and look inside the hole. You can see if the blood vessles have dried up, andif the duckling has pipped at all internally.

It allows you decide if you should or can help. the small hole can be covered by scotch tape if the duckling isnt quit ready to keep the membrane from drying out too badly.

pressure canner for non acidic items and water bath canner for acidic foods (tomatoes, peaches, jelly, etc..) Ball makes a great kit that is the water bath canner and everything you need in it. I have canned since I was 19. I have a Ball canning book that I live by.
