KRAFTY-- I saw that the USPS said that due to the severe weather in the US that several routes will be taking longer than ususal- I had a package go to CA last week faster than AR- and I am in TN- go figure! Also had eggs from someone take 5 days to get here (easter swap- obviously they didn't get here in time to set for the easter hatchalong)

I had an actual wood and wire cage brooder, but it was a pain to clean. I tried the tubs and other things. The cleaning became a huge thing. So I went to cardboard boxes. Thick, huge boxes with a custom built wire top. One has a child gate laying accross the top. The boxes can be used a few times before needing to be trashed. I also use large puppy pads in the bottom, with pine shavings covering it. My sister works for a chemical company and they get these super large boxes when their 1 gallon containers ship in. (Me and two kids can fit in this thing, sitting down.)
Perhaps it is a reaction to chemicals in the puppy pads. I believe they put an odor retardant in them that could be causing your problems. Try brooding without the pads.

Ok turkey experts the Lords will I get 24 BOURBON RED eggs Saturday, we r driving to NC to pick them up so no sipping errors. I need any good hatching advise these r my first turkey eggs.
TN, I do nothing differently than I do with my chicks...incubate with humidity between 50 and 60% and then up it to 70% or a little higher for lockdown...porters suggests that you dry incubate and then up it to 80% or more during lockdown...I had 15 eggs out of 16 hatch last week... and you could also ask spoiled how she incubated the eggs I sent her....I sent her 8 eggs and she has several hatched and all the rest pipping, unless they have hatched by now.

Okay, here are my little orps. Excuse the mud, it rained today. He is not so symmetrical anymore after having to trim a load of butt fluff. The girls look a bit rough after the rain but I love em.

I have 4 silkies available if anyone is interested. 3 whites and a black, about 2 mos old. My really nice silkie roo Fred that brooded the babies hurt his leg and is hopping on one foot. can't find anything obviously wrong, but it has been 10 days and he is not any better. :(
