We had tornado's here Monday. It was bad all over DeKalb county. Friends lost barns, some had house damage. My parents lost their shed, gazebo and their pontoon boat was blown out of their pond and into the field. We were out of power all afternoon and night and my incubator with 20 cream legbars and 14 sulmtalers were at 72F degrees by the time power was restored despite being wrapped in quilt. I had 4 silkie eggs in the hatcher that were suppose to hatch Tuesday. It also got down to 72F degree. They didn't hatch. I candled late last night. It looked like they all stopped developing that day. I am going to candle again in a few days and see if there is any change. I guess I will do eggtopsy on the silkie eggs tonight.

That's terrible! I'm glad you are all okay even though there was so much destruction!

I finally got to leave work, pick my puppy up from the vet....he had an entropion eye tack today...and get home to unpack my egg boxes! Smfildes can Not count! Just warning those of you who might want to deal with her later. I claimed 20++ button quail eggs from her. You'd think that ++ might bring it up to 25, or maybe even 30 if she were generous, wouldn't you? But, oh, no! Not from her! 50. Yes, that's right. 50 perfect little button quail eggs, beautifully packed, and a waterer base to go with them so I know what to have for them! I've gotten some very generous boxes from people, but this one takes the cake!

And they're so cute! I just want to stare at them!

I also got a claim in for Pysankygirl, and another order that I purchased. Good Wellies, and all the eggs are a lovely terracotta! They should do well with the Whitmore Wellies I got.

It's been a good day!

I think that is one of the neatest thing about this group of swappers - most everyone enjoys sharing and surprising others just as much as they enjoy receiving the goodies. It's a great caring and pay-it-forward mentality that exists here.

of course, my dark side has to also come out and point out that the karma thing will also prevail and bite those who shall not be named in the butt - (insert evil cackling sound effect)

Just got home from a LONG day of driving. Picked up two 1202s though one is going to live elsewhere and got o go and visit our weaner piglets!!!!! Very exicting. Also the guy that I got the cabinets from through in some hardware cloth goose/emu holders for the racks and a hatching basket with high sides and three dividers AND a bag of organic pork and beef cuts! Oh and he have me $40 off the price of the bators for gas!!!! Super nice guy! Have a feeling we'll be doing more business in the future! Hope all is well with everyone. I'm going to help a little 10month old learn how to walk and maybe take a nap!

So...
I was giving the kids a bath, kept hearing the needy turkey poults in the kitchen peeping up a storm. Thought the peeping had gotten a little louder... Turn to look at the door, and in walks the poult
He had climbed out of the rubber made I use for the just hatched chicks, jumped off the counter, and came to find me

I forgot how much I like turkeys. It has been too long.
