I finally got to leave work, pick my puppy up from the vet....he had an entropion eye tack today...and get home to unpack my egg boxes! Smfildes can Not count! Just warning those of you who might want to deal with her later. I claimed 20++ button quail eggs from her. You'd think that ++ might bring it up to 25, or maybe even 30 if she were generous, wouldn't you? But, oh, no! Not from her! 50. Yes, that's right. 50 perfect little button quail eggs, beautifully packed, and a waterer base to go with them so I know what to have for them! I've gotten some very generous boxes from people, but this one takes the cake!

And they're so cute! I just want to stare at them!

I also got a claim in for Pysankygirl, and another order that I purchased. Good Wellies, and all the eggs are a lovely terracotta! They should do well with the Whitmore Wellies I got.

It's been a good day!

I have to say in terms of color, the Welsummer is so far my favorite chicken. They're like a medieval tapestry running around the yard! Not my favorite in terms of temperament, though -- they're a little flighty for my tastes. On the other hand, I never worry about them when the hawks are out

Definitely not here in Illinois..............We made it up to 25 F but the wind chill factor made it feel like 10!
