candled and pitched a bunch of shipped eggs yesterday. Hate having eggs with no growth at all, I can accept bloodrings, but nothing? Thats a real downer

I hate that feeling too! It looks like I'm going to have far more than my fair share of those in my next candle. The PO and weather have NOT been kind!

So I was talking to my PO guy the other day and asking why so many fragile boxes come damaged etc. he said some people just suck and sadly they get a kick literally out of damaging fragile boxes. Not that all damage is intentional either. He recommended that on expensive or large orders I make sure to get insurance. He said it would be less likely that they would get damaged in that case because USPS have to do an investigation when they have to reimburse SO that's what I've been doing on large orders recently and so far they get there on time or faster than expected and in perfect shape. Will just have to see if that continues to be the case!

I have 3 blue breda's hatched and 4 Blue americaunas!!! yeah!!! More pecking out hopefully they will be free tonight! We adjusted the temp in our incubator and the eggs are starting to hatch when they are supposed to again. Yeah!!! Lots of black Australorps which means lots of eggs later. My Australorps always seem to be the ones that can make it through anything, apparently the guy I bought them off of several years ago culled for greatness. Very rarely do the eggs from the australorps ever have any issues. I do however have an issue with one of my breda's the poor thing has his legs all spralled out to the sides. I have a pipe cleaner wrapped around them to pull them together, hoping this will fix the legs-- any body have any better ideas?

I made a little loop for each leg by loop it back on itself. Little guys legs are cured and will get the tape off today. The painter's tape was really easy to adjust and remove but solid enough to stay put. Best intervention!

I tried about five different things when  my poult was sprawled last week.  None of them worked!  Aye suggested painter's tape.  It worked awesome.  I made a little loop for each leg by loop it back on itself.  Little guys legs are cured and will get the tape off today.  The painter's tape was really easy to adjust and remove but solid enough to stay put.  Best intervention!

Oh yeah! Lol I almost forgot about the blue painters tape! It's does work really well as well the vet wrap. I think if the vetwrap gives too much play ie severe spradle the painters tape is totally the answer!

Thanks guys!! I sure hope he/she does good! It was a darker blue one that has the leg problem- the other two so far are almost lavender.

Tdhenson- I think your ritual was wonderful! If more people knew what work it was to raise/grow food and process it they would appreciate it all so much more, and be a lot more thankful of it! No one appreciates the work that goes in to agriculture anymore. I didn't have a clue till we started the farm 2 years ago how hard it all is and what you sacrifice and have to go through to have a good crop and good livestock.

I tried the vet wrap first. It had way too much give! The bandaids kept falling off.

I can do more on most of the ducks as long as they stay laying with our cold snap the last two days
