I received a phone call from the lead investigator of the Minnesota Inspector General's office about my theft and negligent claim for last weeks birds. They have begun both a criminal investigation and a negligence investigation in TN for box COF's stolen chicks and the negligent chickslaughter of Reese's . They will be in contact with me. Send good thoughts!!!! Not only do I want to reimburse Reese and COF for the replacements, I want to send a clear message! These are expensive birds and will cost them a lot of money. Perhaps this will motivate them to make changes.

Yep and none to happy about it...... I think it helps that the MN office gets to advocate for me and they get to blame TN. It must help that it's not their fault, but they can get my issue resolved. AND I have every name and number of every person I talked to. It's an ADHD miracle!!!

They grow, but don't even internally pip. The ones that hatch, with one exception, have been strong, healthy chicks. But I'm not the only person in the area having this problem, which is why we were thinking environmental first. And I clean and disinfect between hatches. I'll be checking the humidity first. Then I'll try checking the temps in the incubator. The Hovabator is preset. I'm also going to do a hatch with full incubation and hatch at the same time in the cabinet, the Hovabator, and an LG, just to see. Half in turners and half hand-turned, too. But I have to wait until May, when my eggs will all be done. I want another good scrub on the cabinet first.

Make it cost them to make stupid mistakes like this and get the ones responsible for the theft - it will probably help ALL shippers of live birds - GO GET THEM!

evening all...............baggng and boxing noodles, then sending all of our noodles we are keeping to the freezer.

new cases of shipping boxes should be in Tomorrow so we can resume shipping larger batches of birds again. Still have plenty of 50 chick boxes on hand, so new hatchlings go out tomorrow.

Just spent a small fortune on animal medical supplies to restock their cabinet.

Oh and we are going to sell off the entire EE flock. It includes 2 black split Lav Am hens plus a bunch of EE girls and the roos too. If anyone is interested we will make a heck of a deal (if you arent local for pick up) to off set shipping costs. 3 Roo's you can 1, 2 or all three (2 EE, 1 AM) We have large swan boxes they be shipped in.

Waaah - I wanted to claim some EE eggs from you when I got the incubator stable.. and I KNOW I can't afford to ship even one bird all the way to Calif.. WAAAAH!

that could be a humidity issue are they  getting to big to turn?

I am having some chicks get too big to turn, but I dry hatch so it shouldn't be a humidity issue. Could low temps cause that?

Size is a possibility. One of the last hatch did not have a discernable air cell!! The whole egg was full of gigantic chick. I had read about shipped eggs having this problem, due to a stretched membrane, but the last batch was not shipped. They also weren't mine, so they did get a car ride for three hours.

After I finish out what is in them, I'll sort it out.
