So, last night was my 19th day for my bobwhites in incubator. I quit turning them. What is the best humidity for them? It's my first hatch and I have made some mistakes. Waiting to see if I'm a poor hatcher.

I know it is late, but is anyone familiar with the seller on RBA selling the legbar chicks?? The shipping price seems extravagant, but is that to make up for the low price so far of the chicks? I haven't followed any auctions on there long enough to really know...
Are you talking about chickencommander? Don't know them but read their feedback. How are you going to have an auction up for Legbar hens/roo when the previous auction you couldn't provide a rooster or a refund for the rooster you didn't send?

Also, that seller has swindled someone on another forum. Please be careful.

I think I am fixing to get taken for a ride myself. Not from that seller, but another one. If so I will be done with RBA.

I know a few sellers on there but the rest I wouldn't even try. If I really want something that bad I'm sure someone here has it or will eventually.

Yeah I was trying to get a step ahead. I have eggs coming from what I bought (from here), I just could not wait. Learning patience will cost me.

That is what I will be doing really soon. I have a call in for a date for my npip. I am hoping next year I really am only hatching a few eggs that are shipped. Normally I have one person I contact if I am looking for something (lol Bhep) if she does not have it then I have a list of others who I get awesome hatch rates from. I just go down the list.

Good Morning, Happy Chicken People!

Seriously slept in this morning, then had to rush through feeding without spending any time watching chicken TV at all! Snatched half a shower and made it to work on time. At least it's a short day, so I can spend a bit of time with them this evening. I know I have some older chicks ready to move out of the Juvenile Detention Center to the Half-Way House. Just need to catch them up and relocate them. Then I can move another batch of chicks out of the nursery into JDC.

I have Wellies due to hatch tomorrow. I've put half on their sides, and half in a carton with the bottoms cut out. I'll see if that makes any difference. Most things start hatching at 20 days. I'll see when I get home if these are, too.

After that I have a week before another batch is due to hatch. I'll make sure to do a double good scrub and disinfect on the Hovabator I use for hatching, although I'm normally pretty thorough. Extra diligence will not be wasted.

I put my order of new Narragansett poults off until next year. I've got 40-something eggs from my Bourbon Red x Royal Palm crosses in the incubator, and they're all developing. That will be plenty to raise out this year. Next spring though, I'll be in the market for a new turkey breed. Narragansetts are winning right now, but I may take another look at what Porters has to offer. I do like those Tiger-stripes!

Hope everyone has a great day!

They're not autosexing, but I you can get a pretty good idea by down color and wing feathers when they start to come in. The down on the males is usually a much lighter, true yellow. The girls most often have a peachy tone to the down. When wing feathers start to come in, they are usually white on the males and tan or cream on the females. I'll try to upload a pic in a moment. The 2 in the center of the pic are female.

Again, these 2 methods are not 100%...you will occasionally get a surprise.
oh, heck...I wasn't even thinking I could sex them at this point. I was thinking what would they look like in a couple of weeks!!! LOL. but thanks!!!!
