I hatched out some chicks 2 days ago (not mine) and they were gooey- one that I helped out had bubbles/foam- they seem to be doing great. One pooped last night when I got them out of the hatcher and it was clear goo. I had to wash the chicks off before putting them back in the hatcher because I was afraid the goo would make them icky and wings stick in an awkward position. Any ideas why? It was only one particular breed.
The "weird stuff" was paper feed bags and things I had raked from part of the yard (leaves, twigs, acorns etc). He asked what I was burning, I told him. He asked if I had a permit, I do. He then informed me of the complaint, said I was good and advised me not to burn chicken manure (I wasn't, we compost it). This is the third time they've complained (last year and this) and the FD has never found anything.
