oh and not everyone is following the swap rules of setting a swap page and listing their swaps owed to and from and listing their breeds ect. Its a work in progress, and we are on the honor system here and all adults.![]()

yes, I agree spring is spring, I do touch base with people who owe me eggs, just to remind them and to maybe get a heads up on when they may be coming, but hens go broody and things happen but I figure if its spring its spring.Seriously Spring runs until the first day of Summer. So people have until then to get their swaps out. For me, I had 3 broody bantam orp hens. I'm hoping the move broke them but it will still be weeks before they start laying again.
No John you are not the only one wondering how long it will be before we start getting our spring eggs.... I guess they have until the first day of Summer (21 June I think) but it would still be nice to know how much longer we have to wait before we start seeing some eggs rolling in.....
Personally, I see nothing wrong with selling. I do it. I have to feed my birds but I am still filling my swaps as well. It would be different if I couldn't fill my swaps but I'm balancing it out pretty good. The rule here is the birds pay their own way. If they don't, they leave. The sad thing is some people are making money SELLING their eggs BEFORE filling swaps..... I didn't do that. In fact I LOST LOTS of SALES sending my swap eggs out since they happened before the sale offers came in. SBEL for example.... I had to turn down about 10 orders because I could not fill my swaps AND orders. Looking back next year, I will not promise any eggs for the first of the year. I didn't get to set any for chicks to sell and I didn't have any eggs to sell when I could have made some good money.
JMHO
Quote: I agree, and is why you wont find me offering sebastopol or dewlap eggs for swap. We set and hatch 90% of our eggs for orders. We have thousands invested in eacg pair/trio and as much as everyone wants their eggs we cant do it. I dont even sell their eggs, live goslings only.

Quote: difference is you are filling both. Some choose to sell even though swaps are waiting and ship the sales and leave the swaps waiting and waiting.
I sell and swap the duck eggs, but also ship each out weekely too
