This is why I don't swap unless I have the eggs available to go out the next day. I sell when I have the eggs available. I do not want anyone waiting and I don't want to try to remember who I owe what to.

I have sold my orps eggs before I fulfilled swap orders because I knew I was going to have to make some money back on my investment before I could just give eggs away- that is pretty much what we do on here. We swap eggs for eggs too but, usually just pp for eggs that cover shipping and you get eggs that could be sold for $10 each or more. Which is fine... we are here to have fun. But, for me.. I spend a lot of money on chickens and cannot afford to just buy buy buy and not make some profit off of it. I promised my orps out for spring but mostly late spring/summer and I have fulfilled lots of them in between what I am selling and I will continue to do so. Just like right now- both of my hens are going broody (one has been and the other I am pretty sure started 2 days ago)- So, I have told everyone I am sorry and it will be pushed back a few weeks on getting swaps out- I however- also pulled all of my adds of selling the eggs because I don't know when I will be able to send them. I paid money to put eggs on RBA a few days ago and am now retracting my auction due to I don't know when they are going to lay enough for a order yet.The sad thing is some people are making money SELLING their eggs BEFORE filling swaps..... I didn't do that. In fact I LOST LOTS of SALES sending my swap eggs out since they happened before the sale offers came in. SBEL for example.... I had to turn down about 10 orders because I could not fill my swaps AND orders. Looking back next year, I will not promise any eggs for the first of the year. I didn't get to set any for chicks to sell and I didn't have any eggs to sell when I could have made some good money.
JMHO

"Make" is such a forceful word. Then you make 'em pay PP. At this point, I have so many swaps due me that I'm afraid I'll never see, I'd be happy with the PP.
If for some reason I could not fill my swaps I would offer PP to whomever was owed. I feel that is only reasonable. :O)Then you make 'em pay PP. At this point, I have so many swaps due me that I'm afraid I'll never see, I'd be happy with the PP.
so very true!. I think most people have been very generous with their swap offers, and no one should expect people not to sell their eggs unless their swaps are filled. Where else would anyone be getting 6+ eggs such as white bresse, ccls or even choc orps for $17 pp?
This is exactly why I have not offered the Leghorns and a few more birds from my farm. I owe Leghorns to one person on here. I have many more breeds/types that cost me more then a pretty penny. I have not offered them as yet b/c of taking orders on them. That sound stingy, but it is the truth.I do understand needing to support the feed bill and large investments in birds (when you talk $1000 a pair of geese who lay 20 eggs ONCE a year) and thats why I dont offer them for swap. If I need to recover investment, then they arent available for swaps. Just easier that way and makes the most sense to me.
