this is too much for me!
Wow, sounds like the hatch I had. The year of the boys.

That's works great where every body is mature and works with each other to fill swaps or make alternate arrangements. However, I've seen people swapping the same breed(s) as what's still owed to me. They promise to ship and I don't hear back. They promise to ship again, and again no eggs. But they're still swapping, and they're swapping for immediate shipping (i.e. tomorrow or next week). If they have eggs to swap, send me mine or send me PP. Why should my long outstanding swap have less priority than a new swap?

I think there is (or was) too much future swapping from birds not even hatched yet. Yes, someone admitted to me that they were swapping birds they didn't own yet, hadn't ordered yet, and didn't have any hatching eggs for yet. That is too far out into the future for my comfort. "Spring" should have been when existing laying hens got back to the business of laying, not "spring" when chicks finally grow up and start laying.

ok, off my soap box now.
and they are doing this on other sites as well

ouch, good thing I am shipping 2 girls to you today Aye lol

I have only 1 swap claimed from me I cant account for lol, (sent a PM already) if anyone else claimed that isnt on my list (updated it last weekend) shoot me a PM please. i am a list maker and this timeof year live by my lists

Swapping before you even have the birds in question hatched? Hmmm. I don't like oweing eggs. I owe leghorns and of course, after receiving payment for the second set, the girls wonnt give up the eggs. I have ONE laying sporadically. I HATE that. Even my quail, they were laying well, I got a swap for them and they started faltering. :/

That's actually against swap rules. How can you swap something you don't have? Or count your chicks before they hatch?

Good news for you though! Ones a B line boy!

I figure on my birds if they are 2 months old and I have 2 roos and at least 3 hens I can figure early swapping is probably going to be ok. Obviously, disasters can happen and all of someones birds can be wiped out (really hope not for anyone- including me) but, that is the way I kind of figure it.

Too many non hatchers and chicks that have to be culled to call swaps any earlier- even if it wasn't against the rules- that is just not smart. I would have figured that eggs from GFF would have excellent fertility and great hatch rates and probably above average since they express mail them but, still... after 18 eggs.. only one Choc wyandotte... since I have had chickens I really know the meaning to don't count your eggs until they are hatched.
