"Make" is such a forceful word.
I think it would be neat if the swapper offered PP if they're eggs aren't ready when they're "due".
Like, totally fictional here: say I claimed eggs in December, with the swap date of February. I check back in in Feb and the swapper says "such-and-such happened and my hens aren't laying right now, would you like to remain on my list or would you prefer $PP?" Then the swappee has the opportunity to choose to continue to wait. If I - as the swappee - have to say, "well, I want $PP then, since you can't send your eggs like you said you could" It sounds negative and accusatory. I would think the swapper would actually be relieved to be able to knock someone off their waiting list.
Just my opinion![]()

oh hey do you have room in the bator right now??
For anyone that I owe Houdan eggs, they will be separated this weekend. Hopefully their laying will pick up. I am not consistently receiving eggs. I think only one of the two pullets is laying. Everyone that I have talked to confirms 10 months is not unusual for them. As soon as I can get three eggs under the 4 day age after they are pure I will send out.No John you are not the only one wondering how long it will be before we start getting our spring eggs.... I guess they have until the first day of Summer (21 June I think) but it would still be nice to know how much longer we have to wait before we start seeing some eggs rolling in.....
I am guessing Opossum. A dead one if I catch it...lolLOL Who kicked his hiney???

and they are doing this on other sites as wellThat's works great where every body is mature and works with each other to fill swaps or make alternate arrangements. However, I've seen people swapping the same breed(s) as what's still owed to me. They promise to ship and I don't hear back. They promise to ship again, and again no eggs. But they're still swapping, and they're swapping for immediate shipping (i.e. tomorrow or next week). If they have eggs to swap, send me mine or send me PP. Why should my long outstanding swap have less priority than a new swap?
I think there is (or was) too much future swapping from birds not even hatched yet. Yes, someone admitted to me that they were swapping birds they didn't own yet, hadn't ordered yet, and didn't have any hatching eggs for yet. That is too far out into the future for my comfort. "Spring" should have been when existing laying hens got back to the business of laying, not "spring" when chicks finally grow up and start laying.
ok, off my soap box now.
perhaps it would be best if this were taken to PMs? I wouldn't want our thread to draw attention to itself....and they are doing this on other sites as well
Like someone said above, I have a BIG investment in alot of my chickens. I think most people have been very generous with their swap offers, and no one should expect people not to sell their eggs unless their swaps are filled. Where else would anyone be getting 6+ eggs such as white bresse, ccls or even choc orps for $17 pp? I think we sll have been very generous in what has been offered up to swap.
