Poly pipe has one serious drawback. It bends. If you are using it for supporting walls it will bend and bow - you will end up bracing it to keep it straight. Pros are its cheap and it doesn't rust and rot. However, how was he going to attach it together? Those T fittings are expensive (more than a 2x4x8' each) - and drilling and bolting it or gluing it together only works for a short time if it isn't a slip fit... it breaks (I have tried it).My DH is pretty creative. He has proposed making coops/pens out of sections of 60" hdpe pipe. I can see it working, but really depends on the price of a 20' length (cut into four ft lengths. Google is not forthcoming about pricing, but if it is less than $590, it is way less than any current plans we have. Any thoughts and/or knowleged to share?
Oh wait - you said 60" pipe? HUGE PIPE? yikes - I dunno nuttin about that...
