ROTFLMAO!
Need some? LOLThey sound like roos. The males have a white collar.
I need to have a talk with you about your micro orchards and raised beds!! I would imagine that my "cold" zone is about like yours... We are just starting that part of the project on our property this year.. want an orchard, berries, etc..It doesn't make me feel better....... You need your starts.....maybe by July!!! Peaches are one of the only things I just can't do here, but we have apricots and plums!![]()
Man....I am frightened to imagine what I could do with 6 acres!!! But, having only one forces me to have a precision and efficiency that is really interesting, maddening and inspiring!!! I have done a ton of studying and researching on micro gardening. It is amazing! We can produce over 12,000 pounds of perennial fruits alone with the micro-orchards and briars and about 14,000 pounds of vegetables between the raised beds and still have over 1/2 acre of lawn. It has been quite a project. Mother Nature does not seem to appreciate that I need a little cooperation from Her though!
If the person offering offers chicks they are responsible for the shipping.Something I've been thinking about, I'm not trying to start a fight, but I would like some honest feedback. Please don't bash me. It's ok if you don't like my ideas. I'm just hoping for some open discussion on this.
Per the established swap rules, the person offering is responsible for shipping whether they offer eggs or chicks. Offering to ship six chicks does not seem to be an equitable trade off to offering six eggs. May I propose that we change the rules a bit?
- If a 50% hatch is considered good for shipped eggs, would it be fair to offer 3 chicks?
- I also propose that those offering chicks be allowed (but not required) to wait to ship until the same swapee claims two or more chick swaps?
- Can the claimer be responsible for reasonable shipping fees? For example, I shipped chicks a couple of weeks ago. Shipping was $35. If I had shipped eggs, shipping would have been around $10. In this example, I would ask the swapee to cover an additional $15.
If these proposals are acceptable, I would still suggest the first offer be either PP or 6 eggs available in two weeks or less with chicks only as additional offers.
Thoughts?
I have MF leghorns from Juststruttin, OE's from Ayeup, LB cochins from BBPoultry, Tolbunts from April's friend and some others hatching. So far, 3 MF leghorns hatched and a cornish cross from my own eggs and several pips.this hatch seems better than other hatches!![]()
YEA!!! always good to hear that on my eggs... especially when they are shipped!!!Just candled Icelandic eggs from Thebirdguy and have 100% development!!!! Holy Moly!!! Thank you for the lovely eggs! Hatch date 4/28, fingers crossed!
