Morning all...............sorry to those having more rain at the start of the week.

Today is shipping day again here, lots of box prepping to do this morning.

Has anyone seen Profti on? Was suppose to get a box from her in April, but never got it and havent seen her on
She has been on the swap thread, but I have not seen her on here. I PM'd her asking for her address, and never got a response. Which is why I had to ask on here for it. She must be super busy,

Whoot whoot shipping day!!!
Good morning everyone!

So I am kinda tossing around the idea of selling my BBS Ams... Currently 8 hens 1 roo. A few responses, usually a few hours away. The latest one asked how much, I told them. Their response was will you take $100. For all of them? I live over an hr away from there.
I can sell them for more than that at our auction. As far as being an hr away? I drive 2 hrs round trip to work everyday. Does that mean I get to leave early every day? Sorry, my vent for the day....
I will try and get pics of my new additions from COF today when I get home...
2 hour drive for work, ouch! I fall asleep while riding in cars. If I drive for long periods I get super sleepy too.

I can understand the preventing of impulse buys and such, but what- you're supposed to band all your chicks to sell? Sounds like a lot of work to me.
I talked a lady in Tractor Supply out of getting chicks that her young girl wanted.Mom had no clue and the kid thought she could sleep with them play with them. Once I explained the brooder light and all they left.
no such thing as guaranteed when it comes to the postal system
No doubt my wife got some pottery off of EBay and it was broken but insured. It took them forever and then they said it was packed badly and denied it. I never opened a claim in time on EBay and the seller was a jerk. Lessen learned open a claim right away.

I had a job with the 2+ hour drive each day, I know the pain. I got pulled over for doing 85 in a 65. I told the trooper I had a jerk ahead of me who would pass me then go down to 60. He told me that was no excuse. When he asked me why was I so far from home I told him of my drive. He came back and said with that drive I won't ticket you but slow down, reminded me how my insurance would go up.
Holy wow that's a lot of eggs 0_0
X2!!

flocksalot- 40 DOZEN?? How many days does it take you to gather that many eggs? That's a good customer right there! :)

We get 7 1/2 dozen a day right now. Was more but I sold off a bunch. This is the kids little business. He pays for feed and treats for all the birds and the rest goes in his bank account with a little put aside for fun. Which generally equates to MORE chickens. I pay for housing and electric mainly because I'm an awesome mom. I help him do chores, treat injured, clean coops, and monitor health, but expect my son to be up on worming, health and pest. For a nine year old he does pretty good.

We don't wash eggs until they are ordered. We never sell anything over a week old because if they are there I set em.

Now that we've been playing with the genetics to get different colored birds the kid is now ready to expand into selling chicks, so we are currently collecting our breeding stock. He has a list of breeds that he wants and that's what I've been swapping for. Well some I just get cause they're pretty and I like them, but most are for the PLAN. He's quite the kid.

We will still keep many mutt layers as we provide eggs for a CSA and have many regular customers. But some of the focus will go towards specific breeds. He already has orders waiting for SFHs since we got the adults. I still need a few breeds and will also get several different lines of breeds for him, but yes we have a lot of birds. Farm livin is the life I tell ya!

Well I am done buying eggs on ebay. I bought 2 dozen turkey eggs on there and when I got them 1 dozen were smashed and broken and leaking all over the other eggs. The eggs were not wrapped they were just in egg cartons and the egg cartons weren't wrapped. they had only bags that were filled with air around the egg cartons. I contacted the seller and they are refusing to resend the ones that broke or even refund me for the broken ones. They didn't send any extra's. Out of one of the eggs they sent 1 was a soft shelled egg that should never have been sent.

I do remember having 300+ chickens at one point and time. About 100 adults and the others were growers and chicks. Most of them were silkies. Definitely not 40 dozen eggs a day but that was bad enough!
