I have some healthy little salmon Faverolle chicks hatched from my own birds, so I feel comfortable shipping out eggs now.

Yup. I'm feeling all of that. I really hope I find a teacher I like and can trust.
Yes, the shipping for me was more like $300 for each unit and I still considered them worthwhile. I think they were around $800-900 each (I try to put that out of my mind, LOL).
I have a silkie roo like that. He doesn't spur, but he bites and will not let go. You have to pry open his beak to get loose. He has drawn blood on DH and I, many times. You'd think a 2# chicken couldn't do that much damage. I said if he bites me again, I'll find out what black chicken is like in soup.

I've been seriously thinking about getting one of those brooders. I like having all the chicks in one area and I could put it in the basement.Oh no not for the goslings, they are spoiled rotten with floor stalls and auto waters and over head sweeterheaters. Actually all waterfowl are on solid floors with pellet bedding, and yard time daily from age 3 days and up.
Looking at them for chicks and turkey's.since I have room in the garage next to the fodder rack
Is it crested or not we hatch about 40% crested and 60% non. We have a great color range and are growing out several more including 2 from GFF new line that are supposed to lay a very big eggJust got back from delivering chickens -- two hours north! Ugh. Yes, they paid for delivery but I don't think I'll be doing that again soon, lol!
Okay, totally lost track of the quote buttons and who was saying what, so general responses/reactions:
Yep. Life's too short for mean roosters. And they taste just as good as the sweet ones! I don't butcher my own, though -- I'm in Amish country
Pysankigirl, next time I need a diplomat, you're elected![]()
Walli's (KYTinpusher) SFHs are delightful! I'm so happy to have themI also have one adorable SFH hatched from TNBearChick -- don't know if it's a he or a she yet, but at first I thought it was a tolbunt! I SO have got to get caught up on pictures.
Speaking of pictures, SERIOUS chick cuteness in my bathtub at the moment! I'm really hoping for more to hatch overnight -- I've only had about a third of the eggs hatch so far. I'd be panicking more if it weren't clearly going by breed, which settles one thing I'd always wondered about -- yes, some breeds definitely do hatch faster than othersStill worried about the unintentional cool-down last night -- I think I definitely lost some chicks because of it. All I can do is wait and see. And get pictures tomorrow as soon as I get a chance!![]()
I suspect I'm forgetting a few things but oh well. Have a good night, everybody!

Morning all................waiting for blue partridge brahma's to arrive this morning
We have mostly had great teachers, 4 kids and very few complaints. We have had some great teachers also. We are a little annoyed right now, my 10 year old who is an A student with the occasional B brings home a 0 in Social studies that she hides until mid-terms. Never a word from the teacher, not even a question why an A student got a 0. Of course she is grounded, we send a message in her folder to her teacher now 5 times in 4 weeks wanting an update for her grades, guess what no reply not a message, E-mail or phone call. I am a bit upset.Good morning.
