I know what you mean, out of 40 quail, only two are laying... And out of 28 chickens, two are laying. However, only 8 of those are laying age, but still! I want eggs to swap!!

I have plenty of eggs, but my daughter asked last night if I was going to buy market eggs to make deviled eggs for Thanksgiving. I just stared at her with a blank look on my face. She has discovered that fresh eggs boiled do not peel well.X3 Over 100 chickens...maybe 10 eggs and since the ones laying are my swap eggs, I don't dare eat them LOL. Yes I bought eggs from the market.![]()
Add some baking soda to the water before you boil them: Peeling EggsI have plenty of eggs, but my daughter asked last night if I was going to buy market eggs to make deviled eggs for Thanksgiving. I have 250+ chickens. Even if 150 are boys/too young, that should be a LOT of eggs. Yesterday I got 14 and most of those are bantams. Twenty-five laying quail hens, I got 6 eggs. I'm going to start reading them recipes! Unfortunately most of the birds laying are my show/egg swap birds too. I was getting 4-5 dozen eggs per day and they just stopped, practically on cue.

I've had a dozen bantam eggs saved sitting on the counter for about a week now, just so I can make deviled eggs tomorrow.
