I haven't had much luck saving a chick with the straight legged problem either. Just had a D'Uccle hatch last week and both legs were like that, I tried the hobble and it didn't work at all, he would just flop over, and I couldn't figure out a way to keep the legs bent so that he could sit on top of them and learn to keep his balance. He didn't make it

Using the coffee cup trick can help keep them from falling over until they can stand. Not all of the ones I have had had made it, but is worth a try.

It's a great baby day here! I have splash orp and SFH popping out from Walli, SFH from Beth, and little MF leghorns from Deanna popping out everywhere!!

That does sound like an awesome day! I can't wait to get home to see if any more babies hatched. Ohhh...how many MFLs hatched? I am impatiently waiting for spring, because I claimed MFL eggs from Deanna as well. Come on spring hurry up! :D

Hang in there!

. What were you wanting to claim?

I'm trying to experience a wide variety of breeds so I know which are most compatible with our environment and their living quarters and stuff. I think the Sicilian Buttercups are SO PRETTY...wanted them until I read that they are "intolerant of confinement", active, flighty and non-docile I guess I shouldn't try those - doesn't sound like they'd be happy in an urban run/coop set-up. Then again, I have NJs and the same site says the same about those and ours are perfectly happy (so far) where they are. =/ I dunno. lol
