Not. I have 92 chickies under a month old out there in my Juvenile Detention Center as I type. But they won't all stay.
I have offered it to mine and have yet to actually observe any eating it. However, I have received chicks that were supplied with gro-gel for the trip and on one occasion they had finished it. So, I think its a toss-up. I had decided that unless they are shipping, they probably don't really need it.Hey, has anyone here fed their chicks gro-gel? I gave some to my last hatch but they didn't seem to care for it much. And honestly, I have a hard time feeding my kiddies anything that looks that much like Soylent Green!

I do give mine egg protein, I discovered it by accident, when I received a chick shipment I wasn't expecting and was already at work - they had gone priority and weren't in good shape, so I had to run to the pet supplies plus next to my office and get a heat lamp, etc. Well they didn't have chick starter but they did have egg protein for pet birds. Turns out the chicks LOVE it, and it is granulated and smaller than crumbles, so I always offer the brand new chicks some of that since it seems easier for them to eat and gives them a boost I think, then I start offering chick starter after a few days.
It's also called egg food supplement, should say for all birds on it, or could say for canaries or something to that effect. It has egg protein, honey, vitamins, etc. I've tried a couple of different brands and so far its been the same each time.egg protein... I will have to get some of that and try it. I want to give mine the best boost I can when they are little.
