Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

I wouldn't worry about the NJs. They are the easiest hatching chicks I have. When they start, it's like popcorn. Nothin' going on, then an hour laters lots of pips and zips. They must ESP each other or something. It's like synchronized swimming. Everyone pip now, all together now, everyone zip now, all together, and now the grand finale, with lots of fireworks. Man I love my NJs!

If I could get a video and set it to music, maybe I could win Americas Funniest Home Videos. I truly hope that is what happens. I want them so badly. They are going to be spoiled little things. My husband has agreed to let me keep them in the basement until Spring!

I have been doing some thinking today and that usually means work for my DH. I have an assortment of eggs coming from GFF and depending on what they send me, I may need another pen. Shocker, right? Now to decide where to put it. My backyard is completely enclosed in a 6 foot privacy fence but it is also split down the middle with a chain link fence. Dogs have half the yard, I have the other half. Truth be told, they don't use that huge 40x40 yard. Wonder how my DH would feel if I told him I'm taking over part of their yard? Could also put it next to the polish pen where the garden usually is each year. Oh decisions decisions.

I was just thinking that I am going to need more pens before Spring, and how in the world am I gonna break that to DH?!?! LOL Too funny....

I think coops and pens are like a front entry - they can never be big enough. You all are lucky! When I think its time to build another pen I will have to do the work. My DH will not help with the chickens and complains when I spend my time building pens/coops for them because I should be doing something more useful with that time (like baking him cookies). He still has lots of wonderful traits, but he Does Not understand the pull of chickens.

OK, what's going on Paypal has been up all day? I would take it, but I think I have pushed my limited resources on breeds about as far as it can go.

I am so thankful mine sort of does. Funny how when we started this he wanted nothing to do with it. Now, you wouldn't believe which chickens are his here. Yup, the silkies. I make sure everyone knows too. Yup, those little fluff balls are my husband's.

That's funny. My husband says they look like aliens from a sci fi movie.

Mine calls them fru fru chickens. He says you gotta all these big huge tough looking chickens (orps), then you get to the fru frus... he includes the polish in that category as well.
