Got my eggs from swindledana today! got 3 welsummers and 3 blue copper marans.

(according to an older post of hers)
AMAZING wrapping job, not a single broken egg. now it get them in the bator.

So here is cute story, well, at least I think so
So I was thinking today, and posted it on the NYDHA thread, that I never had a broody hen, and how much I would love seeig one of the girls be a momma.
So, I go out to the coop around 12 to get some eggs today, and my black mixed hen (I think she is Sumatra and cochin. She is all glossy green black, Blak eyes, legs, comb, her legs have some light feathering, and she is a great laying of white/pink tint eggs) was sittin on her best and fluffed way up when I opened the lid. I leave her alone and she stays in there all day. I just went out to close up the coops, and the two chickens she shares her coop with weren't with her, they where roosted on my 4wheeler. They came flying when they heard me, but she started squawking at them when they tried to get in the coop. Do you think she is sitting on eggs? If so, I collect the eggs several times a day, so she is only sitting on one, maybe two eggs. Will she try to set those, or will she lay more? I know if I had other fertile eggs, I would be able to put them under her, but I wasn't sure if she really would set on a 2 egg clutch.

long drive today. I went and picked up a trio of speckled sussex from breeder Walt Reichert who has been showing them really well! I thought I only had the 2 pullets available but he had put several up for me to pick from!

I so wish I knew that or I would have brought more $$$$ with me and picked up 2 more pullets!
I will take pics tomorrow. they are up and tucked away in the barn from quarantine. I didn't get their tractor finished and will work on that tomorrow, weather permitting and try and take pics! They are so pretty! reminds me of the jubilee coloring.

They are from this year's hatch too and have not started laying yet. Soooooo they can be part of the hen's choice for those that picked it for spring!!!!
