I've had lots of problems with chicks dying after lockdown, but only on shipped eggs.

Yes these were shipped. I need to try and find good eggs locally, but so far have not been able to.

I am going to go to the barn and play with my horses. Too depressing to stay here with no new chicks in the brooder.

Farm innovator pro series circulated air incubator with automatic egg turner. Anyone use this brand before? I haven't heard of it, but it looks good to me. So excited!!!

I plan on doing a learning hatch either with my eggs (currently mixed hq birds), or trader joe's fertile eggs. I imagine the tj eggs would make for good layers, I don't like my rooster so I am not sure about hatching his eggs, but I could get sexlinks from him and the barred rock, or some EE. Who knows, I want to go out and grab some eggs to set now, lol. Too cold, I will need to wait a while.

LOL! Yep! I'm right there with ya caj! A few years ahead, actually, if 85 was your graduation year.

That was college grad and marriage year. I'm a 1963 year model.

Ack!!! I didn't think to worry about little birds in with big birds hatching!!! *note to self for next hatch* In the meantime, I'll just hover anxiously and swoop in to the rescue if absolutely necessary.
