Paints don't breed true.  In order to keep all the characteristics: black skin, beak and toes it is best to put a a paint roo over black hens or a black roo over paint hens.  And you still could hatch other colors.  My roo is black but he's from a paint breeding.  My hens are paint.  All I have hatched at paints and blacks so far.

Thanks!

Equine fresh is the bedding. We used it for our rabbits and it worked the best.

The majority of my pens are off the ground with pull out pans underneath for easy cleaning. I am just looking for something to put in the pans to keep odor down between cleaning. I wanted the bedding to put in the roost houses of my large breed chickens and peafowl. I keep my chickens on coated wire with nesting boxes inside with roost poles. What is everyone's thoughts about keeping them on wire????

Remember the story I told about my broody hen only getting up when she had respite from my EE hen when she laid her egg?

Good Morning -
caf.gif
As I was reading the 170 or so post I missed yesterday I came across a conversation about horse bedding and something in the horse line that helped with smell.... Now I can't find it. (go figure) Can someone tell me the names of what it was without me having to go back over the post again?

Found it - Sweet PDZ and horse pellet bedding......In case anyone else wants to know. Also found it is on sale today at TSC...
I cant say enough about the sweet PDZ...it is GREAT. my coop doesn't smell like a coop at all. it traps all the amonia, then you just scoop it away.

I am sitting here with my coffee just happy with the world. thanks y'all for contributing to that. but now I think I have developed a candling addiction...I hope my eggs survive it.

That's something my dog would do to. He chewed a hole the trim and part of the wall when we where gone for 5 hours once. He no longer stays inside when we plan on being gone for more than 3 hours
