How big is a blacksnake, diameter-wise, and is it venomous?
Did it get through chicken wire?

I know we have rattlers but have never seen one.

I think is what most people call a rat snake. They are good snakes.... I think those EAT rattlers...... something does we have here. The ones here are pretty big sometimes.

It's all good, you actually saved me from having to explain to my husband why I spent more $$ on chicks..... I still think I forgot to tell him we are making a trip in the middle of this month for some more.... oops

Our girls had a traumatic second night in the coop...a snake got in and killed one. They were a bit scared of it after that...I put a light on a light sensor in our coop that comes on at dusk for a couple hours. and they seemed to like that and want to go in.

Oh...I'm so sorry you lost your girl.
