I do give mine egg protein, I discovered it by accident, when I received a chick shipment I wasn't expecting and was already at work - they had gone priority and weren't in good shape, so I had to run to the pet supplies plus next to my office and get a heat lamp, etc. Well they didn't have chick starter but they did have egg protein for pet birds. Turns out the chicks LOVE it, and it is granulated and smaller than crumbles, so I always offer the brand new chicks some of that since it seems easier for them to eat and gives them a boost I think, then I start offering chick starter after a few days.

I use nestling food for weak chicks. They really seem to eat it with gusto! It's also a dry powder, but I store it in the freezer.

Puppy breath!!!!

Hey, has anyone here fed their chicks gro-gel? I gave some to my last hatch but they didn't seem to care for it much. And honestly, I have a hard time feeding my kiddies anything that looks that much like Soylent Green!

I used gro-gel for the first time last month when I hatched out my Seramas. I only used a small amount the first time added to 1 TBSP. of water. They really weren't interested in it in the beginning but after a few hours they chowed down on it. I now use it with every hatch I have done after that and they all love it. I usually only use it for the first few days after hatching just to give them a little extra boost with the probiotics and hydration.

Ok, I did 3 paypals yesterday, and got 2 emails. Still missing one person. I'm gone mon tuse and wed so if you could email me tonight it would be great.

I use grogel with all my chicks also. They are usually slow to get interested in it, but once they do its GONE in no time.

This one fell asleep on top of the water container. Must have had a hard day!!
I need to find out how to change date on camera! These were taken last week and then today!

RedBrushFarm, that is SO cute! I've always got one in every bunch, it seems like, who adopts the waterer as "her" perch.

And okay -- I've got a whole packet of the stuff still :) I'll try it again with the next hatch and see if they like it better!

did cpl really go over? I counted 7 plus there was confusion there too earlier today.

I have another chick hatched. Another black chick. Seriously? I haven't even seen pictures of a black Isbar but that looks like what I'm getting.
Blue chicks can often look black when they hatch.

I had 4 isbar eggs sent in the mail a while back. All 4 hatched: 2 splash hens, one black hen and one blue rooster !!! They do hatch, and that must have been one of my most fav hatches ever.
