I think coops and pens are like a front entry - they can never be big enough. You all are lucky! When I think its time to build another pen I will have to do the work. My DH will not help with the chickens and complains when I spend my time building pens/coops for them because I should be doing something more useful with that time (like baking him cookies). He still has lots of wonderful traits, but he Does Not understand the pull of chickens.![]()

AHHHH!!! I can't take anymore stress!!! My baby is sounded a lot better, now my four year old is complaining about a spot just under his ear is hurting him really badly. It's a little swollen, and the temperature there is slightlyQEQa elevated, but it doesn't look red like a bite or anythig... Wondering if it could be a swollen gland? It hurts him for me to touch it, an it's right there under his ear where his jaw ends. Of course, I just got home from enjoying a few hours kid free trying to relax, an was feeling pretty good... And five minutes of being home, my stomach hurts from worrying about him. I called the doctors at exactly five o'clock- and of course they had switched off their phone!!
On another note- you guys have been super chatty!
Wow, you husband sounds like my husbands twin. Actually, he will let it slip that he likes a certain chicken... But overall he just complains about them and the time I spend on them
Oh those are sad. It's wonderful that we can learn from each other. I would have never thought to skip packing each egg individually though. Just screams accident waiting to happen.Hey y'all- I know many of us have shipped plenty of eggs in our time, but I wanted to share this for the newer shippers. Please don't pack eggs like this! I am not doing this to make anyone feel bad, nor will I share who these eggs are from(NOTE: Not from this swap!). I just want to turn my sad discovery into a learning opportunity for others. It took receiving a few boxes like this before I learned how I like to pack eggs. No one is perfect! But packing methods are important!

If you do a search here on BYC, you can find SO MANY great packing methods. Please please please use one of those!
I like to wrap each egg in tiny bubble wrap, taped up snug, then put in a carton all together, then tape around the carton, then big bubble wrap the carton and around to fill the space with really anything that has a little give. Some times I will just put the individually wrapped eggs embedded in cushy packing materials. Depends on what I have around, but the end result is the same- one or two may be damaged due to rough handling, but those are the extras, and the ones in the middle should hatch.
