Well, shoot. I was all set to say silver-laced barnevelder, but it's decidedly not. Not with the black legs, beak, and eyes...

see what I mean? Turning out very pretty though, whatever they are. I don't think I am going to do the mystery thing anymore though. I just am not good at surprises.

ok so will I be able to tell the difference between the NJs and CCL when they hatch? If not I need to switch them around a bit...

nvm they do look somewhat different

If you have not hatched them before, I strongly recommend separating them for the hatch if you can.

For example, can you tell these apart?



CCL male on the left, NJ female on the right.


I can tell them apart, so you can send me pictures if you need some help.

My chickies arrived!!!!!!! I have 2 that are 3 and 4 weeks jubillees, trio of lavender orpingtons, 6- 1week old double laced blue barnevelders and 2- 1week old jubilee orpingtons!!!!!!

I took pics in the box but haven't had a chance to upload them yet. I HAVE to get out to the barn to fill water buckets for horses and throw hay and turn lights off. Late tonight as we went to pick them up early!!!!!!!!!!!! sorting facility was nice enough to call me early and give me the option of picking them up this evening.

I'll upload the picks when I get back in!

Wow logged on and there are 107 posts! my electric was out most of the day and I don't know if my NJ's will hatch now!!!!!

or if the ones in the bators will be any good now.

Yeah the NJ's don't have chipmunk stripes, I have mine mixed and so far so good.
