Ok here's a pic of the three that are the most fluffed out. The one with the leg band is one of your project chicks. I had one that was marked 1BR so I banded that one too just in case, lol.

So is that one definitely from the project pen? The 1 and the B were written the same way as the 1B egg...

It must be a guy thing. I just write pen numbers on my eggs. Now that I've switched some pens around I need to think a little and still sometimes write the wrong pen number on the egg.

There are a lot of people who are probably glad that I don't have any eggs to offer...I'd be the weird person drawing cute little smiley faces on them with pencil. One side with Xs for eyeballs and one side with Os for eyeballs. I just finished doing that with my NYD eggs.

I checked my eggs in lock down when I got up this morning - nothing. I just went back to "double check" and there sat a beautiful Silver Phoenix chick!! I want it to be a her so it is HER. I only have a young trio and this was the first egg. I was amazed when it began to develop and now in shock that I have a CHICK!!
5 years ago today my daughter woke up in heaven. I know she is well now, but my heart is still broken. It was really nice to see a new little life peeking up at me out of the bator. God is Good.

I literally shed a tear for you. I cannot imagine the grief you coped with. That chick is very special.

I am writing down all the stats for chickens I have and the ones I want, trying to figure out which are worth keeping; cost of eggs, how many eggs laid, that kind of thing, since my husband is such a stinker about my chickens, and their food cost.
How often do Swedish flowers lay? I have a couple in my Bator that are halfway there (thanks Santa ). I never planned on them, but really want them now.
Also which of the breeds on here are auto sexing? I have welsummers on my wish list, but thinking maybe I can get the breed you guys always talk about (I think they lay green eggs??) and then I can get rid of my ameruacana and welsummer pen plans.

I am very sorry for your loss, that is devastating. That being said, I'm glad that your hatched chick perked you up when you saw it peeking up at you, that's special. I hope you have more healthy ones on the way. Once again, my condolences.

Sorry to hear about your daughter, but it sounds like she sent you the chick to perk you up today!
so much tragedy...I just got a new coworker who has lived through some serious stuff and it is giving me quite a perspective on my tiny troubles.

but I guess if you are safe and never let yourself love, then yeah you never mourn but you also never love.

I have these, but they won't be laying until spring. The only picture I have of a male, and he is from my cull pen - nothing wrong with him, just two I liked better.



Pullet I took to a show a couple of weeks ago. She was RB. Her background color needs working on, too brown.
