RBA site - 15+ Greenfire Olandsk Dwarf HATCHING EGGS

OK - am seriously thinking about going after these. I have been told good and bad things about buying eggs from RBA - What does everyone think??

IF ANYONE IS BIDDING, PLEASE SAY SO - I WILL NOT BID AGAINST YOU.

my main concern would be if they have so few, why are they selling????

sent you a PM.

Thanks everyone. She is in the house with her babies. They all seemed pretty strong before I left for work. She was still clucking, but the chicks were under her. I left the heat lamp on and food/water. The three that are left are light gray like their dad. The two black would have looked like mom.
Still sad but makes me feel better that you guys think it was an accident and I am not just a reckless chick killer.

Firstly, I am so very sorry for your loss. I think when something like that happens it is very natural to feel horrible about it, but you are nothing close to a "chick killer". There is absolutely no way you could have possibly known she'd bring them to you during greeting time (because you didn't know they were even hatched out!) It was nothing more, and nothing less than a very unfortunate, accidental incident. I know I would feel simply awful if I had done that, and to be honest...anyone who did that and didn't feel badly about would be a bit "odd" in my book. That being said...I pray the ones that did not perish will recuperate nicely, and will be healthy in no time. Meanwhile, please take comfort in knowing that you love your chickens and are doing the best for them...clearly. If you were a chick killer or unfit chicken mama...your hens would not be rushing to the door to greet you. Once again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

The Chief's are at an all time low right now, even by my I-Can't-Stand-Football standards. Season ticket holders are lucky to sell their expensive seats for $5-$10. Parking costs more than tickets. So I trust we are still friends?

That depends if you want to place a friendly wager with me on Sunday's game.

Raider fans are so used to losing when we actually win we don't know what do, we just look at each other in stunned silence, we won?

Ahh but there is nothing more fun than a south west airlines flight from Oakland to Los Angles after a winning game. I think they put on extra flights on game days because alot of us would fly up just for the game. The plane would be a sea of black and silver jerseys.

You're on. I bet you 6 Cream Legbar eggs that the Raiders will win. What are you betting?

Now what are you going to do? Root for the Raiders to win becuase they're your team, or root for the Chiefs to win so you can get some CCL eggs?

Speaking of turkeys ......

anybody on here doing exhibition R. Palms or blue R Palms or Small Beltsville

thanks,

k/

I have exhibition quality RP & Slates. This will be their first year to lay and I haven't yet chosen my trios to keep. I still have 15 HUGE turkeys in that pen that are eating me out of house and home. One of them needs to be Christmas dinner..................although we usually go with prime rib.

Any of you swappers have any Araucana (Tufted Kind) or Ameraucana that you ever swap?

I have an ideal for a project using preferable the Ameraucana.

I have both, BBR Araucana that are only laying sporadically and BBS Ameraucana which haven't started to lay yet at all.

There is someone here in CA that sells them, I'd have to remember. I'm sure you could find them cheaper than on RBA.

When is everyone going to stop shipping for the year due to the holidays?

I'd say we should be able to get out another week if you choose the shipping day carefully.

My Seramas arrived this morning; healthy and happy. They ate the entire apple the breeder placed in their box. Well..the pulp anyway. They didn't eat the peel. They had zero poop in the box but made up for it when they were placed in their temporary house...then they let it fly. Even though I've seen several pictures, I still wasn't prepared for a) how stinkin' tiny they are and b) how straight they stand up without tipping over and c) how fluffy and multifaceted their feathers are. Cowboy (the boy) has been crowing non-stop since we brought them home. My husband said "Okay, I definitely need to sound proof that room," but my reaction was, "That is the coolest sound ever." Cjwaldon's NJ roo (Lancelot) that is with us crows too and it's just the cutest little noise. I hatched him out from some eggs we swapped; he's almost 2 months now. He'll be going home to CJ at some point, I just don't know when...but I do know I will need a year's supply of Kleenex on that day; I love him so. Annie Oakley has been doing a whole lot of sitting and shuffling her belly in the sand (methinks she needs some eggs). It was very nice and comforting to see that both of them are pooping healthy poops. Both are chunky little monkeys without being "fat", they're just really stocky birds but really tiny at the same time. They even smelled nice - kind of like oatmeal and brown sugar - until they pooped (that was a bit stinky). Cowboy has a white and brown tail and the rest of him is a mix of white and caramel with honey highlights- gorgeous coloring. Annie Oakley is solid, but equally as beautiful. She's a sex-link chocolate pullet and extremely sweet.

I will make a thread on Saturday with a picture heavy warning because I haven't been able to post any pictures since around the last week of September or somewhere around there so I'll be going a bit photo-nuts. I'll include:

Lancelot & Guinevere (the 2 NJs I hatched out of CJ's eggers)
The chicken coop & run
The Serama habitat we're building this weekend
Cowboy & Annie Oakley (the Seramas)
The little easter egger and Silkie chicks we have growing out (they're 4 weeks now)
The brooder we built last weekend

...I think that's it...maybe. :D

In any case...just thought I would update anyone who was wondering about them; they arrived safe and sound and are settling in nicely.

I'm going afk to grab a doggy pee-pad and put it on my chest, and then snuggle with the new featherfluffs (the doggy pee-pads work great for this purpose by the way).

Happy hatching & swapping :)
