We've had freezing rain and snow.  It's been snowing since 8am this morning.  We still had snow on the ground from Monday's snow.  I'm so glad DH is at least home to deal with this snow.  The next 4 months are not going to be fun.

I think that same storm must be heading here. Suppose to start early morning and projections for us is 8-14+ SNOW!!! I'm excited to do some snowmobiling. :celebrate

I hope your sultans make it, herducks.

I had to pull all my basque again.

I think the mail from Louisiana must be really rough. On a brighter note 9 of my 11 Birchen Marans from crfarms feel like they are progressing and 5 of my 6 coronation/split coronation sussex from the U of A are still holding on. (Can't candle the Marans, have to go by feel.)

Well none of my Christmas chicks have hatched so far. I am holding out hope for a couple more days, but was really hoping these would hatch. I bought 6 sultan eggs and 5 were looking good at lockdown.

they hatch in the next day or so!
I do hope something hatches for you. What day are you on? Mine were early. Weren't expecting them until tomorrow.

Praying they hatch for you :fl

Yep, it's buckle down, dig in, and endure till spring time... which gives me lots of time to research new chicken breeds, design spring brooding pens, and fantasize about the eggs I have coming in spring!

Indeed. I'm not a winter person. Wish I could find a den with a big grizzly bear to curl up with and sleep until Spring. I'm trying to take it one month at a time. Come on April.

Today is day 22, so still a chance. They just make my blood pressure go up when there are no pips by day 21. I often have early hatches. I rarely have late ones.

That is rough. Yeah, I get antsy if nothing is pipped by the end of day 21. This is the first time I had an early hatch except for bantams.

I had to come into work today in this mess. bleah.
they are letting us go an hour early, though, so plenty of time to go by the post office and mail people's stuff I owe them, if they are still open.

I hope everyone's chicks hatch safely!

I am with you, I almost ALWAYS have early hatches... My first late hatch was the SFH, and I was pretty sad thinking none made it. But she just popped out on the 22nd night. I had another egg that was in LD with her, and I should have checked because it was positioned so it couldn't hatch on its own- but looked perfectly developed and all the veining had absorbed.
