It has worked for me but you never know how a hen will be...some are just great and some will even kill chicks they hatched themselves so I would only give her a few if this is her first time.

unfortunately, I don't have any eggs coming any time soon because I thought it would be spring before I'd GET a broody.

anyone who owes me eggs actually have any to send?

I could send one of your hen's choice from me tomorrow but you would be taking a chance of them getting there by sat. if they didn't make it they wouldn't get to you before tues next week. Not sure what the PO is doing for NY's but I can find out tomorrow.

I have some eggs due to hatch In a day or two... Could I sneak those under her? Am I supposed to bring her inside, even though temps aren't freezing here?

I collected my first egg from my trio of walter's speckled sussex pullets!!!!!!

Congrats! I can't wait for my young birds to start laying. I only have a BCM pullet and a frizzled black bantam cochin that I'm really waiting on. Those, and the darned Black and one blue Dutch that haven't laid since I bought them... I really hope it's cuz because of the short days and NOT that the guy sold me old birds.

I just had to assist hatch a lone sebright chick. It was seriously glued in the shell. It was my fault, it pipped in the incubator, and I had to move it and 11 jersey giant eggs into the hatcher. I spent a couple hours slowly peeling back the shell, making sure it wasn't going to bleed... It was so stuck I had to cut pieces of shell and leave them attached just to get it free. It hasn't absorbed all the yolk unfortunately so I am just going to leave it alone for the night and hope tomorrow I can clean it off. It's peeping away do I think it will be fine. I'm mad that I didn't move it to the hatcher yesterday. I forgot that the sebright and the jerseys where a day apart.
