Oh no, so sad.

Heart is broken.... All my chicks and chickens survived the blizzard, but one of my peahens feet froze to an outside roost and when I tried to help her she flew straight up and hit a pole and broke her neck. I have had her since she was 2 days old..... I guess she was freaked out and jumped out of fear. Still a horrible loss. Makes for a sad day.....
On a better note woke up to 2 silver phoenex chicks this morning. They are cheeping so loud we had to turn up tv!

So sorry to hear about your peahen. Those Pheonix chicks sound like your Sebright. My hatcher is all the way on the other side of the house in my brooder room (lots of cheeping all the time.) When one of your Sebright eggs hatched I heard it cheeping over all the other chicks and behind a closed door.

They are loud little things. I hope they do well. With 10 inches of snow and temps in the 20s I think they will be staying inside for awhile SMILE!!

Well my last little Sultan chick did not make it

. I think he was just too weak. I just cannot figure out what went wrong. No temp spikes or lows. Humdity was what I hatch all my others out at. Air cells were good size. It is just very puzzling sometimes! Really good hatch one week, bad the next.

I really think it depends on the breed as well. I've had no luck hatching shipped Polish eggs. I'm sorry to hear your little one didn't make it.

Sorry to hear this. I agree there are a couple breeds that I have just had not luck hatching as shipped eggs. Polish being one of them. Hugs to you.
