Good morning, everyone!
I am, of course, constantly on the stalk for English Orps of most colors. I'm also watching for good Wellies (and missing them every time!), or Brahmas of standard, showable colors. I've given myself strict instructions about getting into fun colors with anything other than the Orps. (We'll see how well that works). I also want some good leghorns, but prefer browns. I saw some yesterday, but they had gone by while I was doing chores. Anything else I get on a whim will just go in the layer pen for pretty.
I'd suggest a side swap to get what I want, but I have nothing laying, plus my first replacement birds were hatchery stock. I won't have anything good here old enough to lay until fall.

I will watch for you.

OT: Glad at the moment that I am in a Double-income-no-kids situation. I just got an unexpected $400 taken out of my paycheck this week because my company has free life insurance (that you cant opt out of) and the Gov. decided that anything over $50k in life insurance is an income that you have to get taxed on, and it had to happen all by the end of the year. I don’t know why it wasn’t done all along, split over all the paychecks for the year, but whatever. We can take it. At least I have a job, right?

But for some of the people I work with this is a major unexpected blow coming right after they spent money that they could have cut back on during the whole Christmas gift buying thing. It would have been nice to have been given some kind of warning!

And the company gave us a $7 Christmas bonus this year! LOL: too funny.
I can laugh, but I am not a single parent taking care of 2 kids on one income.

back to your regularly scheduled programming.....

Wow, that's so wrong. Some people can't afford to loose that kind of money at one time. Too many are living paycheck to paycheck.

This does not sound right. Do you have the tax code that shows this? What exactly are you getting taxed on? The amount of money your company pays yearly for your insurance premium? Are they counting it as "earned income?" I would want to see the tax code, who took your money? The company you work for or the government? This just doesn't sound right. Is it possible someone in charge at your work interpret some think wrong? I would think that something this big that would afffect more people and we would have heard something about this in the business report on TV or in the business section of the newspaper??? I would double check this if I were you. I'm NOT saying I don't believe you, just that it sounds fishey.

Yeah, the Government is counting the insurance premium as earned income that we will get taxed on.

I think they were supposed to be taking it out the whole time and just realized that they weren't and had to take it out all at once, before the first of the year.

they are supposed to send us an explanation in our pay stub this week...I will know more when I get it.
