I watched you all play last night until I was too tired to stay awake.

I drooled over the cheesecake although I can't even eat cheesecake.

I picked my favorite offer.. and cheered when it was accepted.

This is so much fun - I can hardly wait until three months and 50 posts when I can actually play on the new swap thread!

I have my strategy all picked out: fill out the form when eligible, set up the Silkibators with golf balls until they go broody, say mine and put up Paypal when I see those eggs I just gotta have so I can get cleared as quickly as possible - but only 7 swaps a week...

Does anybody have any idea how many eggs will actually fit under a broody Silkie?

I don't have any Real Breeds just yet - only Hatchery ones.. but someday...

Man am I IN TROUBLE THEN...

I can hardly wait!

Oh... could madamwlf please post on that starting post how to find this thread? I think it might help other newbies like me come over here to ask their questions.. instead of the swap thread

Well I just checked my silver penciled rocks and they are all dead. One got into position to pip, but did not pip even internally. One looks like it quit a couple days ago and the third was upside down in the shell and died without pipping. I set 19 eggs and got nothing. I just don't know what is going wrong all of a sudden. I had good size air cells and all three looked good going into lock down.

Sorry your chicks didn't make it!

I lost 5 out of my hatch that were fully formed. They either pipped internally but never progressed or were completely turned the wrong way in the shell and couldn't pip.

Didn't catch up on the thread yet but wanted to update they got the power back on. I think they were only about 5-6 hours without power so should be ok. Gonna look into generators for the future though!!

I can't believe all that I missed. I have been sick and I tried a few times to see what was going on but I was too brain dead. I tried the new herbal supplement Red Yeast Rice to help lower my cholesterol and apparently I am allergic to it. The first time I took it I had to go to the hospital but I didn't realize that is what caused it. I stopped taking it while I took the meds from the hospital so when I started feeling better I went back on my vitamins and the red yeast rice. I have been so sick, I can't believe I missed the new years reverse swap.
AGGGGGGHHHHHH

I hope you are feeling better now! There's talk of a reverse swap the Saturday before Easter!

Please keep your fingers crossed! The heat lamp I ran to the coop last night for my broody somehow came unplugged.

I'm trying not to get too upset as there is still time but I'm feeling a little discouraged. Just wish all these babies would come out so I could feel less anxious!!!!!!
I know how you feel. this morning as we were doing our morning chores my husband said that the eggs were alone...no broody. I told him that was okay, that getting up to eat and drink and stuff was normal. but then he said...no, she's freeranging with the others. she'd abandoned the eggs! so I called a friend and she drove her new bator over and while getting ready for a new years day party at my house, I also set up the bator and tried to warm the eggs back up. no time to test the bator or get the temp right or anything.

I put them in a cooler for a while with a heating pad over top of them, but now I am worried that it was too hot. garsh...I really did everything wrong. sigh. and the partygoers showed up and all I could so was deal with that...so it will be a miracle.

I haven't read up on this ...I thought the broody would be handling this. I feel like the father reading the how-to baby book while the mom is screaming in labor...
