Oh, gosh...I wish I lived closer to you. I have some Denagard and I have no way of getting it to you. and tomorrow is sunday.AHHHHHHH I feel so helpless right now. Everything seemed fine earlier but now the gurgling pullet is puffed up again and now one of the boys are as well and coughing? Not sure but definitely gurgling.![]()
I'm going to do some reading to make sure it's okay but I'm going to every feed store tomorrow to find Tylan! I'm not losing these birds!
Does anyone off-hand think it would complicate them if I switched antibiotics? I just want to cry. I emailed Jenny but haven't heard anything. I just want to make sure they get better. It's just the two so far and they've been separated. Any help would be very greatly appreciated!
Thanks, the older trio is 7 mos and at POL (at least once they recover from the move), the younger trio is only 14 weeks.
I can't wait!
Deb
I had some birds from them as well early last year that came sick. They responded well to Tylan however I had done a loose quarantine and one of my pullets died from what they carried. So, make sure you keep these quarantined and honestly unless you know what it is (which you really can't unless you have a good vet hospital like we have in our town), I would practice pretty strict biosecurity. I have heard of a number of birds coming and being sick. A friend of mine had two very expensive birds die from something they came with. So bummed to hear that!!! They will likely perk up with antibiotics...you just have to watch out for the rest of your birds and they may still be carriers.... hope it isn't anything too bad. There is definitely some mild upper respiratory stuff but there is also some not so mild. :-(Thanks y'all. It doesn't help that I got up super early this morning with DD and didn't eat much today. I just feel like a silly emotional twit. I have a friend that thinks in being ridiculous because "they're just chickens...." She thinks I should be more upset about losing money. Some people just don't get it.![]()
Quote: forgot to say that I ended up culling my entire flock due to the birds that I got. Thankfully i was starting over with a move to a new location so it was an easier decision. I ended up opting for chicks instead of juveniles for the replacements as I figured they would not have been exposed to whatever had affected my chickens. The replacement chicks did great and I had no trouble with them.
