Ok for all the people with ducks. I am looking for a small to medium sized duck that is not flighty like my indian runners, but is mobile. I want a good duck for working dogs. I am finding the indian runners are OK for my oldest dog but way to flighty for my younger ones. My welsh harlequins were raised with the I.R. and I don't know if that made them flighty or if they are naturally that way as well. I know alot of people use call ducks, but I wanted to see if the duck people had a better recomendation.

Khaki Campbells............we sold a flock of 20 to a local lady for training her herding dogs. She loves them since they are easily trainable, and dont scatter or keep running when pressure is pulled off of them.

I am a long way out from this being a concern, but was curious. If you are setting fresh eggs, how old is too old? A week? Two? More? When you collect, do you leave them on the counter, or in the fridge? A specific temperature (for storing not the hatching part)? I plan on doing a small test hatch with my girls, but really only want to hatch the EE girls. I have a RIR roo and have checked that eggs are fertile (I love BYC. The pictures that illustrate what a "doughnut" or "bulls eye" are great). Either that, or try Trader Joe's Fertile eggs (I have read that some have been able to hatch those). I am getting super excited to start hatching. I have to sit on my hands a bit longer (we are remodeling the bathroom and the house is chaos), so I am gathering as much information as I can in the mean time.

I have set eggs over 14 days before (home grown not shipped) with good luck. Never refrigerate. We keep them all in large racks for our cabinet bators and they turn a few times a day until we set them. Sunday is typically set day around here.

What is the room temp. where you keep your eggs? Humidity? Trying to get some idea of what to do here in Florida as some of my girls are at POL and hopefully will start soon.
