I was bored, so I made bagels.

Now, I really don't feel like cleaning up

Oh yum................I love homemade bagels. I've only made them a few times, but certainly worth effort. Hmmmmmmmmmm, might have to go start some dough. I'm working in the kitchen anyway. My remodel is just about finished and I'm still working on unpacking boxes, washing everything and deciding it's new home. I know me, even if I say..............."I'll try the dishes here", that's where they'll stay forever, so I have to really think this all through the first time. And I'm getting ready to kill DH, he can't remember where I tell him I'm putting things, so he puts it whereever. I'm getting SO tired of games of "Guess where the spatula (colandar, grater, whatever) is".

Anyway....................my new range has a dedicated dough proofing cycle

So I might as well have dough rising while I'm puttering around!

I need help. I have noticed eggs missing from under my broody silkies this has been going on for months and I thought they were eating the eggs. Well when I looked and there were 5 eggs missing from under her from just last night, I recovered 4 of them and 1 was right up next to a hole under the ground.

DO I have a rat problem and how do I take care of it without harming my chickens. My worthless barn cats aren't doing there job and ever since I lost my faithful flock protector dog in 2011 she used to get the rats my other dogs won't. Now I have a problem. If it is rats they are taking the eggs from my broody silkie hens every time my silkies go broody.

That sounds nice! If I still lived in Vermont, it would help... In FL, bread proofs juuuussssttt fine with out a special feature on the oven.

I am testing this recipe out, and batch two is looking WAY better than bath one.

Batch three is probably going be be the one with the crispier crust... I love me a super chewy bagel, so that's what I am testing for.

Hey everyone, my mom is doing a lot better. get to bring her home tomorrow. thank each and every one of you for the prayers

It's REALLY a great resource! If you know someone that works in or owns a restaurant you can find amazing deals at Restaurant Depot as well. If you price compare you can get pretty much everything you need for a restaurant, or chicken transport

for a great price between the two.
Yes, we stole my MIL card and that place is insanely good. In fact we should go this weekend... The rest of them are not as good as reg deals you can find if you hunt around, imo.

Okay so I have some good news. I just got off the phone with the state vet and the I Lu way they will take any birds is if AI is present. She said that they would test the other flocks as well before they were taken as well if that were the case. I won't find out until next week what we're dealing with but that sets my mind at ease. Still being crazy secure with the quarantine.

If anyone I owe eggs to wants to wait for whatever reason until this blows over I'm not at all offended in any way shape or form. Just PM me. I won't be cross or angry. I just need to know who I'm sending eggs to this weekend. Also I have a harmless disinfectant called star-San that I can lightly spray them with. Not sure how it will affect the bloom but its your call. Just let me know!

I was always chasing around a warm spot for rising. Now I hit the button, place a pan of water on the bottom rack if I need to increase humidity (I'm sure that's not an issue for you either).

Anyway, you inspired me. I have a batch of cinnamon raisin bagel dough rising right now. In fact, getting close to the boiling stage already. Yum................cream cheese and I'm set!
