I have a little black silkie hatched last night. I checked and he was pipped, went back an hour later and he was out of the shell resting! Super fast hatcher! The other that was pipped at the same time is still just barely zipping! I have another that pipped last night and just finished zipping. Not out of the shell yet. I love hatching day! I have 5 more I am waiting on! Come on little ones! 2 more silkies, 2 sfh and 1 ccl. I would love to have them all hatch!!
Yay! Here's hoping for a CL pullet!

Good morning. Felt great to sleep in this morning! Still have to work, but doing records today from home. *grin*

Think I might run out and get some ACV and start some fermented feed. At least the chicks, may go to it for all of them if it works out well.
Have eggs in the hatcher, hopefully starting to pip today.

Put in 8 beautiful dark brown BCM eggs in the incubator from crfarm, they arrived in beautiful condition, thanks!

We feed only fermented feed and whole grains to everything here. Everyone from newly hatched to breeders to our goats even love it. Took theoldest chickens about 3 days to really dig in.

So this is where everyone hangs out!

Does anyone know who breeds Dark Brahma on BYC? That sells eggs?

We are going to have a BEAUTIFUL weekend here!!! unseasonably warm! upper 60's and up to 70 on Sunday!!!!!!

so gonna do some work on the coop and the goat shed. gonna introduce the indoor chicks to the coop and start integration procedings. and hoping to hatch a couple of chicks. we will see on that one.

Have a broody. another one. a Marans this time. She went broody in the Goat shed so moved her into the basement in a dog crate because I don't want her having babies up on the 48" high shelf she was on. and if I moved her lower, was worried about the goats stepping on her by mistake.. she is so funny just sitting there. I temporariy moved the other eggs from the incubator under her so I could put the ones due this weekend into lockdown mode.

I was able to get the humidity up to 67%. should I try to force it higher? I was thinking I could inject water through the ventilation holes tonight.

I am so trying not to get my hopes up on these eggs. I honestly didn't see much movement from them last night. shouldn't there have been movement?

my husband just got a notice from Sam's club that the smoked salmon he's been buying there has been recalled doue to listeriosis. we lost two goats to that horrible disease last year. I think we isolated the source, but it was an awful way to die....
