Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that her breast and abdomen in the pics? If she is molting, you would see feather loss in more parts of her body. I would dust her with poultry dust for mites. I would also watch to see if she is spending extra time in the nest box. Some hens that are building a nest to start to brood pull breast feathers out to line the nest.

Morning everyone - I know most of you don't know me very well... I am fairly new to chickens. I do have a question i was hoping you could help me with. I know this may not be the right place, but i have been stalking you all for so long, I feel like i can trust you. :D The other day i posted these pictures (in another thread) asking if my hen Oreo was molting. The answer I received was "yes" and then someone posted she was going to die with in a week. My head is telling me that is wrong... but when you see it in writing.... anyway - can you please comment and let me know if indeed I need to be concerned about this molting hen (if that's what it is...) and the temps outside? I live in NH - supposed to get pretty cold this week. Thanks!
Wow. That was a pretty harsh thing to say, especially based on only the information you provided. As BHep says, they don't die from molting. However, if you're up in cold country, I'd make sure she was well protected. I'd likely put an apron on her just for the warmth. But I'm cold natured and I get a chill just looking at her! Check her for lice/mites and treat if needed (all of them). But it looks like a normal molt to me from the pics.

I just read the thread that you posted and the responses. The person who said she would die was (dramatically) saying that she might get very cold and die of exposure in the cold from the lack of feathers. Not that there is something seriously wrong with your bird.

I think it's a molt, if you aren't seeing bugs. Though I usually see molt happen around the head first. Just keep an eye on her. I would say she might need to be out into the coop until some feathers grow back, to keep her warm enough

If the hen is with a roo I would pull him from the flock so he doesnt try and mate and cause more feather loss or damage to her skin while feathers are re-growing.

Morning all............ missed a lot yesterday on here!

no bugs that I can see, and i checked a few of them, not just her. Her feathers are falling out in my hand.... and falling off all over her. Under her wings, neck, belly, bum, even her wings. I think I will watch the weather and bring her inside if need be..... I was just out there again, and she looks alot worse than she did yesterday. I think if there was a strong wind, they would all blow off..... poor baby

Anyone know a cheap place to get Ivermectin or something like it? Or would anyone like to sell my 10-15 dollars worth?

I agree with the rest definitely sounds like a late molt. As its supposed to be super cold here if you can keep her in your basement or a somewhat heated coop I would until most grow back.

I know TSC carries it, but its $45 a bottle? I can't afford that right now

Oh, Kraftyladies just texted that she bought it from TSC for $13. THAT I can do!
