So one of my neighbors stopped by. He said there is a duck outside and wondered if it was one of ours. Another neighbor caught it, and it was an American Coot! What a neat looking little bird!

It is funny you wrote this. Just yesterday my son was looking through a bird book and stopped at the American Coot and said I really really want one of these.
Come get it? 
we have coots all over the water ways here, they know our routine and will come up the lake bank right after we feed in the mornings.
They're pretty! I don't get it, though -- definitely not a pattern I've seen on tolbunts before...
OK I give up! I am going back to bed!!! Two of the chicks have died (the ones dragging the most egg sac) And another is so weak it won't even peep.I got a call from my bank that there were fraudulant charges on my card this morning...a couple hundred dollars worth. So I have to deal with that too. I still need to shovel all that snow. My dogs are super hyper and driving me crazy!!
I am going to go take a nap!!!!

I used a heating mat for seedlings, took a small old plastic oil pan, cut out two holes in the side and wired the heating mat along the one side - top and other side. When they were littler they would go inside - but once they got bigger they liked to sleep on TOP of it! I put burlap sack pieces on top so I could keep down the mess - but the plastic washed off easily. If anybody wants to see pictures, I can supply them - tomorrow - because I am going to a CHICKEN SHOW TODAY!!!(First ever, can you tell I am excited?)
Thanks for reminding me-I need to get Maggie's dog license by January 31.Well i got my shoveling done, and felt better afterwards. I went to the PO and had 2 boxes of eggs waiting!I also had a vet reminder that my dogs rabies was coming due which reminded me that the local Family farm and home had a rabies clinic today. $10 each! So I ran over and got that done too.
Now THAT looks like a Tolbunt!OK good, I was hoping it wasn't just me! I was gonna have to go have a talk with mine and tell them they were confused!

They have a definite lacing pattern, not Tolbunt. I sent them a message.
Rachael's MIL is coming home this afternoon. She said they aren't sure she will make it until Monday, and she didn't want to die in the hospital. She does not have a feeding tube, or anything else to prolong the end.
I would come help, too if I lived closer!! But I would really enjoy the hot chocolate and chicken talk!
