Got my thermostat today! It had an expected delivery date of 2/15, so it arrived with super speed!

It's so much smaller than I was expecting. Now, I'll have to wire a plug in cord to it, figure out how to wire in the heating wire and figure out how to set it up, LOL. Thanks, Donna (I think) for pointing it out. For $14, I don't think you could do any better!

Where do you get the cords? I saw something at Lowes, but it doesn't say anything about prongs, so I don't know if it's a plug or just a wire? I'm thinking for almost $3, it'd be cheaper/easier to just steal a cord off of some piece of junk!

Let me know how this works for you, I would like to update my "new" old sportsman incubator too - without paying 85 dollars for the regulator...

I think there were two other people who said that they used it and loved it. Plus another one or two who bought one as well. I'm not sure if they got their's yet or not, but hopefully some of the people who use these can chime in. If it works as well as others have said, it's a no-brainer. It does require some basic electric skills (wiring a power cord into it and wiring the bator heater into it), but in all honesty, it seems very simple, and I'm electrically challenged. If it works, I might try making a home-made bator again as well (because, of course, the sportsman is just too small, LOL). It's funny how these things are. I went from an LG to a Hovabator, and then when I got this sportsman, I thought I was a goddess, thinking how many eggs it would hold. Now? Now I'm thinking that it doesn't really hold all that many eggs afterall. I only have about 24 hens, and I wouldn't be able to set all of their eggs per week. Add onto that if you're hatching something that takes more than three weeks and you're shuffling space and candling for clears on day 10 to make room for new eggs. For staggered hatches and chicken eggs only, you can only set 60 eggs per week. Count in a lower hatch rate or something, and an addiction, and you don't get nearly enough!

Normally I don't post this sort of thing but if you go to the link above they're giving a $15 credit to the store and they have a shop right now called charm on the farm that has some REALLY perfect chicken decor and kitchen stuff!
I joined, but didn't buy anything. That is really some cute stuff-and the prices aren't horrible either.
