I did and always tell people I don't guarantee hatch. There are just too many variables. I did say I'd replace any that hadn't developed but that I wanted pictures of them.

I think I'll tell her that ill replace the eggs but she can pay for postage.
I had a customer last year I sold hatching eggs to and she got mad because only 4 of 12 hatched, I told her to come back in a couple of weeks and I would gie her 6 more eggs, but I think she wanted 12 new ones or her money back and that wasn't happening

I'm so worried about my baby chicks, if we lose power they have no heat

I have a bunch of 72 hour heat packs that I can add to the brooder but I don't think that will keep them warm enough

I had a customer last year that got 15 chicks out of two dozen in an LG on her first time hatching and was angry that she didn't get more. She said I ripped her off. I actually went to her house to bring her a few more eggs and I asked if she still had the unhatched eggs and she said yes. I asked her to open them and guess what all but two were fully formed. I asked about humidity and how many days she had put them into lockdown etc. She had no idea. I told her that was in no way my responsibility and se could pay for the eggs that I'd brought bar two. She told me I was a conartist and to get off her property! some people's children! I guess people expect to get 100% chicks from hatching eggs. Not impossible obviously but people really dot realize how many variables are involved!

My very first hatch was awesome. And I started with Marans, eggs, to boot. Thanks crfarm! Oh wait, it's your fault I'm addicted! If that first attempt was a failure, I might have quit then I wouldn't be addicted now!

wow...that's something else.

haven't they ever heard that thing about not counting your chickens before they've hatched? there is a reason for the saying...

I actually get a little bit put off when you buy eggs and don't receive a single extra, ESPECIALLY when you're ordering a large amount of eggs. I usually try to send enough eggs that the recipient gets a good chance at hatching however many eggs they ordered. Though, I found that, even in a regional rate B box, you simply cannot fit two dozen eggs securely. :/ I only managed 20 before I started worrying about security. Fortunately, they have 14 growing from an 18 egg purchase. I just get put off when you order, say 50 eggs, get 50 sent, several are broken, several infertile, several with scrambled air cells, etc, then only half are even worth putting into the incubator. If you can't send an extra or two in case of damage, at least let people know before making a sale. I know that shipping eggs is a gamble, but like to at least get a chance at getting some chicks out of an order. Just my opinion on that matter. Of course, people who actually truely expect to get 100% hatch rates and then throw a fit about it if they don't?! Get real folks. I don't think I've ever complained about an egg order. I've had plenty that ended up only giving me 3 viable eggs, and those with blown aircells, but if there is some development and they sent some extras in case of damage, I'm okay with it. If NOTHING develops, I'll contact the sender just to let them know, but if they've tested fertility and it's a problem in shipping, no big deal, although most I've dealt with offer a replacement package for the cost of shipping.
