I was going to tell you I rec'd the "surprise package" yesterday but got caught up in "Silkie Sales" !! You sent way too much!! I loved everything in the box. I had it all laying out like a kid with candy. Sorting, thinking, planning - Now all I need is TIME.... If any one has some to put up for claim - MINE

I'm glad you liked it. I was like hmmmmm maybe I need a bigger box. I don't think you understand how much fabric I have. it's mostly remnants but I love making fun "patchwork" type things! Did you like the rooster soap? I love that mold. I have a few bars and most times I don't want to use it because I love the look of the rooster.....

I just got my mom a mold by the same company. They're located here in Portland. It's a hen on eggs. I'm trying to get her involved on here. She just retired from teaching so now she has "time" to be on BYC.

I'm so worried about my baby chicks, if we lose power they have no heat

I have a bunch of 72 hour heat packs that I can add to the brooder but I don't think that will keep them warm enough

Plus 2 of my incubators are full

Good Morning Guys.

I am sitting in a McDs stealing their WiFi so I can actually use my computer to update things, like my phone, and my sons leappad. It is super exciting and taking way longer than I wish to sit in a McDonalds.

On another note, I am looking to do a side swap, eggs or PP... I am looking for good quality Salmon Faverolle eggs, and LF BBS Cochins. I might be interested in some bantam Cochins, either BBS or Columbian.

I only have black/blue dutch and black copper Marans laying right now. Will be getting Coturnix quail really soon. I actually collected two yesterday (woohooo :/) I will have Columbian bantam Cochins, black/birchen bantam Cochins, Salmon Faverolles, and BBS Ameruacanas in spring... I would prefer to send paypal if you aren't interested in current layers, since I am not enjoying owing people eggs in Spring.

I would like a dozen of each breed. Please message me if you have any to offer.

Caj1985 has offered salmon fav's on the swap. They are from the university of Arkansas lines if I remember correctly.

On a different note, thank you everyone for the congrats on DH's job. We are still at the "can't believe it," phase of the game. The hiring manager here locally is a good friend of ours, which is why they flew DH out to Cali to interview (wanted to get a more objective interview). They are super excited for DH to start.

Also, I sold my first eating eggs last night. She is very interested in buying chicks in the future when I start hatching. Very exciting to me.

DH and I were going to go skiing yesterday and today. Yesterday was cancelled from his interview. Then, yesterday at three, I got a call from my baby's daycare that she had woken up from her nap with a fever. She still has one, so I guess that our ski trip was not meant to be. She is being a real trooper. I can tell she is not feeling her normal two year old self, but still has a good attitude. Poor girl.

Good luck! On my iPad or I would do the fingers crossed emoticon for you. Stay warm and safe and praying for power to stay on for your chickies.

Personally I don't expect anyone to replace eggs that don't hatch, as long as the eggs had a "chance" of hatching by being fertile. There are just too many variables including postal handling, shipping temps, incubator failure, etc etc... It seems like some don't really care anyway.. lol I've let people know how their eggs have done and several simply didn't reply. Maybe it's me, or maybe they just aren't worried about how their eggs did.

I them know as a courtesy, not because I wanted anything from them. I definitely want to know how eggs I've sent someone has done. I try really hard to pack them well to give them the best possible chance of a good hatch rate, not that I can control the other factors, but still.

Sending more eggs and letting them pay shipping is very generous, ayeup... don't think I'd offer live birds...

Collecting fabric for "future" projects is like collecting chickens. I have enough to last a lifetime but still want MORE... The soap was one of my favorites, but hubby was a little put out when I told him "If he touches it, he's banned from the guest bathroom" I would love to find molds like those to use for muffins and such. I'm also looking for a peacock mold if you run on to one.... Thanks again

I had more splash olive eggers hatch overnight, the third (small) set of eggs. So far running 100% fertility and 100% hatch. But these chicks are confusing me. I had a pen set up with splash ameracuana pullets and both splash and lav ameraucana cockerels. I replaced the am roos with a splash marans and started setting eggs. I did not wait three weeks. So I know these chicks could be either ameraucanas or olive eggers. I'm ok with that. These chicks are hatching splash and blue, as expected. However, why do the blue chicks have feathered legs? I thought splash x splash = splash, yet the feathering indicates the father is the marans. Any ideas? Can splash start out looking like blue?

to summarize, the chicks parentage can only be these possibilities:
lav am roo x splash am hen (should yield blue chicks)
splash am roo x splash am hen (should yield splash chicks)
splash marans roo (with feathered legs) x splash am hen (should yield splash chicks)

Pics or it never happened

I'm 7 miles from you.. I have 3 full incubators so it looks like we're in the same boat. One just went into lockdown and another is on day 6..

I hope everyone does okay in the storm!!
Are you incubating in Genesis 1588's by any chance?

I have the back up attachments so you can run them on 12 volt batteries, you are welcome to borrow them.
