Went to the weekly auction today as I was going to sell a couple turkeys. I changed my mind when I saw how little was there. We have dirt cheap prices on all livestock this year since hay prices skyrocketed because of the drought last summer. That combined with feed prices has everyone getting rid of stuff. The 2 turkeys that were there went for $8 a piece. I'm glad I brought mine home.

I was a bad girl though. There are a few local breeders that will get rid of there birds there if they can't sell. So I came home with a few things that are now in quarantine. 4 khaki Campbell hens for $5 each and a pair of pilgrim geese that only cost me $40.

Hubby doesn't know about them but my other purchase got me in trouble. There was a pair of chinchillas with the cage that I bought for $30. They're so friggin cute and fuzzy! I told him it coulda been worse I coulda brought home more goats but he said he woulda rather the goats at least they're outside. I'll remind him that he said that next time I bring more home. Lol.

so, I heard this awful noise coming from my chicken area when I got home today. I know every one of my roosters' crows. This one was totally new to me. I had to cheer. My White Bresse rooster is finally crowing!

My new additions arrived at 5am. They are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! As an added bonus, the girls laid 2 perfect eggs on the way.... I am truly BLESSED. Sorry Clarence, my husband got the order for chocolates correct

He loves Chocolate almost as much as you.... Gotta get to work!! Just wanted to share......

It is so nice to be loved, cant wait to get some of those little chocolate fuzzybutts

We could all sell our used ones for half price and buy new ones direct from Brinsea for under a hundred bucks.......

So what does the egg white do in a developing egg? i think the NJ hatching still has egg white around it. will that hurt anything?

I'm grumbly, grumbly....okay, angry. My debit card has been hacked. They stopped a few transactions, but missed nearly $500 worth! So the bank and I are having long conversations. Oh, joy. And until it's straight and I have a new card and can adjust some accounts, I'll have to hold off on swapping, too! Grrrrr. That's the part that made me mad. They messed with my swapping! I'm actually grateful it's no worse than it is. I've heard horror stories of thousands of dollars being charged before being caught, so $500 is looking pretty cheap. But.....they messed with my swapping!!!

does anyone on here do meal worms? I need to get a small set up going for the flight pen

I do. I started back in Nov or so I think with 500, and now have 2 plastic shoeboxes full of beetles and getting to be decent sized mealworms. They are easy, just throw in a carrot once a week or so and that's it. I'm growing them for the mandarin ducklings and for training my seramas. I plan on getting a lot more going now that I know how easy they are, and now that the weathers nicer so I can get some stored for this winter.
