That's a hard one since chickens do just die for no apparent reason. Why was she missing her back feathers?I have a question that someone might be able to help me with, i dunno.
A week or two ago I bought a PBR pullet up here in Cleveland. She comes from a really NICE line, and is just gorgeous. He said the heat lamp light had blown and she was the only survivor. She was missing her back feathers but was living in the lap of luxury in the house under a lamp. Last night she was peeping talking to me. This morning I get up and she is dead. Just out of the blue. She had nothing wrong with her. I'm really scratching my head on this one. Anyone have any idea's?
My son finally finished his valentine box, party is tomorrow, and I thought I would show you. It's supposed to be a chicken.

He has a red bag that will be stuck on top that his teacher helped him with. All his idea and all his work. I think he used half a roll of packing tape getting it stuck all over everything. My little chicken farmer! That's a mealworm sticking out of the beak.

The nice thing was it kept him away from lurking on he swap looking for all the chickens he wants.
Quote: Is the issue popping up between multiple breeders or just one roo and hen(s) breeding pen?
if its just one breeding pair I would question genetics and swap the roo (if it is an option). Sometimes two birds gentics just dont click and create issues in the off spring. the roo and hen(s) could be too closely related as well creating this issue.
all just thoughts and something to think about
These aren't my breeders. These are chicks I hatched from eggs I got from GFF. I don't really wish to breed birds that have genetic issues and it seems like their breeders have some issues. Is the issue popping up between multiple breeders or just one roo and hen(s) breeding pen?
