I turned it down a little. I'd rather be on the lower side of okay than too high. Aren't slightly lower temps better for hatching?

You are better off with it on the lower side. That way if it spikes it isn't devastating.

I can relate to a lot of the sense of loss expressed here today. I had ovarian cancer about 7 years ago and a full hysterectomy. I didn't think that it would bother me at the time because I didn't think I wanted kids, but it gets to me sometimes. It has been really hard the last two years. I always said I didn't want kids because I raise other people's kids for a living! But it's hard to help others parent and go home alone. Kids are a lot like turkey's, you can't help but love them to death even when they drive you nuts! In reality nothing like turkey's, but I sure think loving the chickens and turkey's help us cope with both the loss of what was and the loss of what could have been.

So, to participate in the reverse swap I have to get my minimum # of swaps cleared that is required to not have to get cleared before I can swap (does that make sense lol)? So I successfully have to get the 7 or 10 or whatever it is done before mid-march? I think I'm confusing myself and probably everyone else with these questions . . .

I also just wanted to say since sometimes it makes feel insensitive not to respond that I avoid the kid talk because we have been trying for about 10 years with no luck. I'm about at my experiation date on that front, so its a bit of a painful topic. So I'll just apologize all at once for not responding to all the sad and wonderful stories you all have about your lovely and crazy babies.

I am in the same boat as well, except about 5 years. I will be 40 this year, so I believe our animals will be our children at this point. I have come to terms with it, and I love my animals. I kind of keep to myself when it comes to all that talk as well, so since it was brought up, I figured I should say something too.

are you supposed to have duck eggs laying on their side for hatching? I was hoping you would be on here soon. I had one hatch and roll another over that had pipped. It rolled right onto the opening of the pip and died.
