I saw it.
I can see both sides of the problem too. I didn't think Daphne's post was mean-spirited, it was simply blunt. I can understand, too, having a hard day and feeling like nothing has gone right, too, and then taking things more personally than I otherwise would.
Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong here are very welcome! I am having trouble with chicks not hatching, they make it clear to lockdown but just don't hatch..... Out of the last three hatches I had 12 make it to lockdown but only had two hatch.... They are fully formed and veins and yolk are gone..... I have 12 more going into lockdown tonight and I really don't want to kill anymore of them......Temp is 99.5 in a forced air with 25-35% Humidity for the first 18 days. The last three days temp is 101 in a still air with 60-65% Humidity. Any ideas??![]()

yeah, I have had days like that too....
SBEL from DMRippy would be my guess. So, if I had a "counter egg" that happened to be a large, white egg marked ML; what might I be?
That is really great advice. Can you tell I am SLOWLY catching up![]()
Have you calibrated your hygrometer? They can be way off. It is easy to do. A shot glass or something small like that filled with salt and enough water to make it good and wet. Humidity should be 75% with that. Put your hygrometer in a gallon ziplock type bag and the shot glass and let it sit for 8-10 hours and see what it says. Don't have it in a hot, cold or drafty place. If it is higher than 75% than what every it is reading you would need to deduct that from the reading. If it is LOWER you need to add that to the reading to know the real humidity. You can find a link on the web to calibrate them if you want too look.
Isn't a SBEL blue?SBEL from DMRippy would be my guess.![]()
How can it be SBEL if its white? How does the punnet square work out for that one.SBEL from DMRippy would be my guess.![]()
