the point of the matter is, if all you want is SQ birds then say so. Dont wait till eggs start hatching an then pm ranting about how bad the chicks are and threaten not to make good on the deal.

krafty....sorry that you are having a rough patch...we are here for you if you need us.

I personally had a nice relaxing day. it is nice to have y'all for company when I am home alone. but my husband is only gone for a week. so no complaining here. and being no kids, it doesn,t burden me much to have him gone except lack of his company. but I feel for all of you that have to pick up the slack, expecially when you are giving upso much of your husband's time in defense of me and mine. so if you need a friend, I am here for you. and when you do see your partners again, give them a hug for me and say thankyou.

I've used Ideal a lot, and had no problems with them until my most recent order. I've tried other hatcheries and didn't like any of them yet. But this time I ordered three breeds, and lost half of one breed over several days. I'm thinking it was the breed, or the source for that breed. I had Buff Orps, Rose Combed Brown Leghorns, and Dark Brahmas. The Orps and Leghorns have done well. Had to pull one of each in for poopy butt patrol. But the Brahmas just died, and I've had several at a time in for poopy butt patrol. This is my second shot at Brahmas. (other time was eggs, not chicks) I'll give them one more chance on some eggs someone is getting for me next month but if they don't do well, then Brahmas and I will part ways. They may just not be for me, although I love them. But I have enough breeds started and coming to keep me busy for some time to come, so an excuse to delete one from the list would make my hubby happy!

Oh, and I'll chime in on this forum, too! Best thing since sliced bread! I've noticed a few people say if their breeding stock is show quality, but most do not. I assume then that they aren't. Why would I assume they are something that isn't advertised? This forum is fun and friendly, with far fewer spats than at your next family reunion! And I get a chance to try different breeds for a minimal cost. If I then want to upgrade that breed to show quality, I can, but I don't expect to find it here. I do have some eggs from a SQ line of birds coming too, but I paid dearly for those eggs and will drive two hours for them to save them from the USPS!

But of course that means it will have to be replaced with a new breed.

That would be just cruddy no matter how you look at it. A deal is a deal and they had better stand behind their word. I cannot stand people that do that. Your word should be your bond, but then I was raised on handshake deals. We purchased our property on a handshake and showed up at closing with the check.

I'm working on getting permanent breeding pens. If I get rid of one breed without replacing it, it will ...ummmm...show good faith! Yeah, that's it! At any rate, I know my hubby. He'll build for me faster, and bigger!, if I actually show signs of cutting back somewhat.
